The rumor was more detailed. Said Bob and Eric would do the show.

That's good news, no matter what. People are sick of hearing "We are being challenged... have to continue to be resilient..."

But Erik's segment and the recruiting segments are pre-taped. CBJ's is taped separately.

Show is prerecorded. Either he has already taped it or hasn’t.

I think they do it over night. Probably in progress. Game ended what about 8:00?

2 hours to do the press conference shower and load up.

Hour flight and 30 min to get back to campus.

Say 4 hours best case from games end.

Probably not serious but somebody in another thread mentioned Iowa st. Coach Matt Campbell. Apparently he was the toledo coach for 4 years. In his second year at Iowa st has wins over Oklahoma and Texas tech.

Not sure why people think he's getting fired tonight. There's no indication of that. Sucks, but the loss was already baked in.

This looks like a man fittin to fire someone

More like it looks like a moron who is allowing this program to fall apart because he isn't acting soon enough.

Butch Jones should have been fired after the debacle against Georgia.

Some supposed insider making a claim of connections to our search firm gave out this as one of several lists the University might use. Ughh is all I have to say.

Sorry. Here’s the preliminary list that I was given a few weeks back. This is one of three people who will be putting together a list, so the names will likely change.

Plan A
1. Chip Kelly
2. Mike Gundy
3. Dan Mullen
4. Kyle Whittingham
5. Jeff Brohm
6. Greg Schiano

Plan B
1. Chad Morris
2. Philip Montgomery
3. Scott Satterfield
4. Mike Bobo
5. Neal Brown
6. Mike Norvell

Backstory to this list and possible missing names
I’ve been a long time visitor of Vol Nation, but not someone who posts. However, I do have access to small bits of information surrounding the program that may be of interest. What I can tell you is Currie is meeting with an outside advisory group next week to go through a list of their names and recommendations. The firm he’s meeting with advises colleges all over the country when a change is needed. They were utilized the last time Tennessee had an opening and advised the AD/BOT to not hire Butch, but they went against their recommendation. Who knows what will happen this time around.

I did see the early list of candidates. Obviously things can change, but their recommendation is to not go with a defensive coordinator like Venables. Their information shows there is a much greater chance that an offensive minded coach will succeed. I brought up Kirby Smart and his early success, and his counter was UGA went 8-5 his first year and they have 10 or 11 defensive starters on this years team that will be playing in the NFL or will graduate. Plus, they lose Chubb and Michel. He said that outside of Saban and Stoops, the success rate for defensive head coaches is far less certain than an offensive minded coach.

He said the names to watch are Jeff Brohm and Chad Morris. He said the first call will and should be to Chip Kelly, but it’s a known fact that Chip is not a huge fan of passionate fanbases where roadshows, alumni & booster clubs meet and greets are the norm. Kelly will be more apt to take a job at UCLA if it’s available than Tennessee. Fuente, Patterson, Peterson are highly unlikely to leave their schools. He thinks Scott Frost needs more time. There are some mid-major coaches he likes like the coach at Troy, but that is not the splash UT is looking for.

Another tid bit.

Sorry. I was told that Fuente, Patterson, and Peterson will not leave their current programs. I hope that information is incorrect.

I’m just sharing with you what I heard and saw. I agree with everyone that we need to pony up and hire a big name coach.

Soon enouhh for what though? We would have lost to Bama regardless and the guys played hard.

My apathy continues to grow. If Butch loses another and isn’t fired, that tells me UTAD doesn’t care. And then if we hire Mike Bobo or another up and comer, I’m cancelling my Volnation account and just checking in to the team for the preseason mags and on Saturdays in the fall (which would be a healthier way to follow anyway).

Somebody in Gruden thread posted from TOS saying Strip will be the interim.
I looked and he is also Associate HC. Possibly he is the best middle man.

Heard from a guy who was spot on regarding the suspensions, the initial QB starter, and OL situation/starters and he's saying Gruden will be our coach. He gets his info from legit sources so there's that. I. WANT. TO. BELIEVE.

Regardless, I think Currie knows this fanbase won't settle for yet another up and comer (and yes I know Scott is good and would make a great hire). I just think we're swinging for the fences and boosters are finally ready to support and pony up for a real coach.

At least I desperately hope so. And FWIW, I was never on the Gruden train last go round and don't dare believe we'll get him this go either. BUT I finally believe we're willing to pay.

I tend to think we are but I hope we don’t overpay if we get an up and comer. We should plan as though we will be firing them in 3-4 years and not have too much money tied up in them.
