Agree with everybody - glad it was us getting the W in an ugly game for a change.
But what was Jancek thinking in this game? He created mismatches for USCe instead of for us along with not isolating Cam on Cooper. I'm sure Randolph's stupidity hurt things. Points out a major need at safety next season. Still not sure Evan is a defensive guy.
Then there is the usual Jekyl and Hyde on offense. Well, successful on that play. Don't need to run it anymore. Next, let's make Dobbs do something else he doesn't do well again.
The O-line needs work. They got whipped in the second half. Mizzou's D-line is even better that USCe. USCe has a better offense than Mizzou, though.
So much for being one of the lesser penalized teams.
Glad that one is over. Three more to go. Will take a W anyway they can get it. Need 8-4 to keep the trends good for Butch as well as to keep the players pumped.
Dropped passes and Pearsons brain fart had more to do with this game being close, than the OL. The OL does good enough when the Defense are spread out. They are not even close to being good enough to deal with a stacked box. When we hit those plays the D has to loosen up. Then the running game can work.

I think Jancek went through a period of being too conservative after we went up 17-0. Also didn't like Moseley playing over Martin at all, and then leaving him manned up against Cooper.
I think USC did a good job making Dobbs beat us with his arm. They sold out on the run in the second half, and for the most part we weren't good enough in the passing game to take advantage. As others have said, our OL isn't good enough to impose their will on stacked boxes. Dobbs is going to have to hit passes and the WRs will have to actually catch balls to keep defenses soft for our running game.
