100%.On the contrary, had State chewed clock when they were driving we never would've been in that position. Instead they went 3 n out while only burning like 10 seconds and left us with plenty of time.
Execution is the most important thing there. We didn't execute once we got to midfield. If we had executed we would've gotten into FG range. But thankfully we'd drained enough clock so that we at least got an attempt at a Hail Mary instead punting. So for that reason I don't have an issue with it.
Heupel plays unconventional clock management in short time because his offense can go so quickly. That's one of the few times where it didn't work and that's mostly because Joey wasted like 30 seconds running around on 2 plays. He will learn from that.
Biggest question of the day. Why was Staley in on punt return and not Boo?VN needs to have someone at the press conferences to ask all of our questions. Like why Boo didn't start the game returning punts? Or what was up with the clock management? Or why do our WRs struggle to catch? Or why is our defense so inconsistent?
This. Ya the clock management could have been ALOT better. But we were at the 50 with 24 seconds left and 2 TO’s. Joey can’t sit in the pocket for 10 seconds like that, and twice he had the flats wide open or another scramble. I loved the run call on 3rd and 1, had Joey saw bishop wide open on the next play he picks up an easy 10 yards and we kick a FG. Nobody would be complaining about clock management thenOn the contrary, had State chewed clock when they were driving we never would've been in that position. Yo, sarcasm. He’s in direct control of the clock when there are 3 timeouts left. It’s year 5 and shouldn’t be happening. Did he just space out? It’s just weird. We got lucky today but that won’t happen in Gainesville or Tuscaloosa.
