That was a brutal environment. Lots of guys making their first road start today. Joey, especially, played well. The guy never seems rattled. This will pay dividends for us down the road.

Having trouble trusting our defense in this one. And our offense does not travel well. Glad it’s not an evening game. Expect it’s too close for comfort but come out on top because Joey is that dude and stays calm.

Underrated part of the game:

David Sanders coming in off the bench down 7 in that environment in his first ever college game. I know he had that false start but what a huge moment for the young man to step in to and deliver

When you are 55 yards away from the goal line, you dont chew clock there. Now if we were in FG position already then I could understand. MSU only had 1 TO remaining.

On the contrary, had State chewed clock when they were driving we never would've been in that position. Instead they went 3 n out while only burning like 10 seconds and left us with plenty of time.

Execution is the most important thing there. We didn't execute once we got to midfield. If we had executed we would've gotten into FG range. But thankfully we'd drained enough clock so that we at least got an attempt at a Hail Mary instead punting. So for that reason I don't have an issue with it.

Heupel plays unconventional clock management in short time because his offense can go so quickly. That's one of the few times where it didn't work and that's mostly because Joey wasted like 30 seconds running around on 2 plays. He will learn from that.

The refs stole a TD from us and MSU needed not 1, but 2 tip drill (which are actual luck) TOs to keep them in long enough to reach OT.
