'25 Recruiting Forum: Official Mississippi State vs Tennessee Pre-game/Game Thread

I think this will be a tougher game than most think. Moi being back helps but he won’t be ready to play the number of snaps that Eason and Bailey have been playing. State’s got a massive Oline that will wear down our mostly undersized Dline. The only good thing is their defense is not nearly as talented so we should manage to get a few more stops than them.

My thoughts, too. They’re a pretty good team that plays hard. They defend the field deep and won’t let anything over the top. But we should run with ease.

They have a huge running back (Fluff) and we had trouble tackling big backs vs Syracuse and Georgia. They also have a veteran receiving corps and QB.

I think it will be closer than people think. Expecting us to roll in there and get ahead four scores in Q1… temper those expectations.

MSU hasn’t faced a passing attack anywhere near what ours is like. I’m taking their defense numbers with a grain of salt and if I’m remembering correctly ASU figured some stuff out in the second half that gave MSU some trouble. Not really calling for a 60-10 style beat down, but wouldn’t be surprised to see a 15-20 point victory.

A three-score differential road victory in the SEC would surprise me. But I’m here for it. 🍿

I still think our defense is better than we are being given credit. We gave up alot of ground to UGA but I take everything UGA does with a grain of salt as their talent level is hardly comparable to anyone else. Syracuse only had 141 yards and 14 points at halftime, where we lead 31 - 14 and we gave up some garbage time yardage that hurts our stats in the 4th quarter. The biggest thing to me that hurts our stat are our 2 cupcakes where we emptied the bench in the second half (and somewhat in the first half too at certain positions)...we are clearly missing some pieces that absoutely have hurt us but i really think the statistics are misleading due to playing as many backups as possible as early as possible. The only game I put alot of stock into is UGA and they definitely hurt us but again, its also UGA.

I think with Moi back we see Eason and Bailey's snaps come down to a "normal" level, rather than playing almost literally every play. gives them a break and lets Moi work into game shape. helps all around. we may not be 2024 fresh on the line, but it should help us not be sucking air in the 4th.

and if we can build a 14pt lead and maintain it until late 3rd or early 4th they are going to have to get away from the big guy running, which should help the interior.

The days of me being worried about losing to the mid to lower tier SEC teams are over.

The Vols are back.

We win.
I feel the same way. Only thing I’m struggling with is getting over this klunker game we seem to throw in on the road every year. I’m hoping we can get over that obstacle this game and all road games this year.

The klunker game is a myth.

We had klunker games because of two things:

1. uscjr cheated. You'll never convince me otherwise.
2. Bad QB play leading to stale offenses.

With all our new wrinkles in our offense, coupled with the way Aguilar is playing... I don't think we;ll see those anymore.

Not to say we'll never lose on the raod. Everyone does. Ask FSU. But I don't think we lose to a dumpster fire team on the road anymore.

state has had O Line issues

played a trash schedule thats masked a bit of it and i think even their guys who cover the team have said it. That O Line is not wearing anybody down.
