Recruiting forum off topic thread (no politics, covid, or hot button issues)

I kind of agree that it shouldn't be celebrated as normal, but at the same time, I don't think it should be greeted with scorn and derision. It's not our place to understand everything.
I agree. I think the pushback is not from people hating it but being forced to take on an opinion that it's normal. This is directly illustrated by allow men to compete as a women. That's not normal and shouldn't be treated as such.

I agree. No one is championing preventing people from becoming whatever they want. My point is that it is not normal. It's a medical defect. It shouldn't be treated as normal.
But should it be treated as acceptable? That seems to be where most division comes from. People don't have to be "normal" to be accepted.

But I agree that transsexuals should not be able to compete in corresponding sports for reasons I already outlined. The gender you're born as effects your physiology and hormones don't really change that.

I agree with the competition part. There are physiological advantages to being born a male that hormones are not going to negate so it creates an unfair advantage IMO. But, I think if a person who has transitioned wants to be referred to by their new gender pronoun, they should be. There is no harm in referring to a Trans man or woman by their new pronouns. It's being respectful. You don't have to agree to be respectful.

I think so. Most people accept that people are gay or trans or whatever alphabet they like to adhere to. I think most people just don't want to labeled the have term of the month because they recognize it as a mental defect.

People get hung up on calling it a "mental defect". We all have mental defects. Most people don't want to admit that, but it's true. Everyone wants to be "normal", but few ever feel "normal". Hell, most people have multiple mental defects. High anxiety = mental defect. Extreme sadness = mental defect. Big ego = mental defect. Low self esteem = mental defect. We all have mental defects. It's part of being human.

And that's a different problem. People cannot expect someone meeting them for the first time or complete strangers to know how they wish to be addressed, thus they should not get angry. But if someone you know asks you to refer to them by a certain pronoun, what's the harm in it?

And that's fine. If someone is an alcoholic, it's a mental defect. If someone beats their wife and has anger management problems, it's a mental defect. We don't accept that those are normal either.

But what is "normal"? Are you normal? Am I normal? Are Bass and Glitch normal? Who gets to define "normal"? People make too much of normal. I'd rather just be me.

Who said it was a problem? If I guy that looks like a man comes up and I open the door for him and he says thanks In a deep voice, and I say you're welcome sir and he gets offended that's on him.

Not really the end of the story though. People in the world will continue to get gender reassignment surgery. Do I understand it? No. But I believe in respecting people until they give me a genuine reason not to, Changing their gender is not a legitimate reason IMO. It doesn't harm me. It doesn't harm you. We already have enough hate in the world, and I'd at least like to try not to contribute more. As long as people aren't harming others, infringing on the rights of others, then they should be free to be who they want to be.
Except the trans community is doing exactly what you say that you don’t want them to do. They are forcing people to live in their delusion, to be allowed to play women’s sports, and to go into bathrooms and locker rooms with little girls. Not to mention child mutilation.

And it is the end of the story. If a thousand years from now someone digs up Bruce Jenner’s bones, science will conclude, “this was a man.”

Fascinating how so many who claim to love science deny basic biology

This is why the Tennessee Football recruiting forum is maybe not the best place for this discussion.

I too believe that there is a God who created everything from the widest expanses of the universe and down to the smallest particle of matter.

That being said, I have to disagree that it is “obvious” that we are living in the end times.

Frankly, I’ve just scrolled through 3 or 4 pages of people spouting off that there view is right and everyone else is wrong.

The infinite God I believe in laughs at your collective insistence about any particular small, finite, worldly set of rules you are upholding as something that should be adhered to and every nonadherent is doomed.

You all are really limiting a limitless God when you set out to say “do it this way or you’re wrong.”
We can agree to disagree.I don’t mean to disrupt any sports related talk, just stumbled on a conversation going on and added my 2cents but don’t want to be labeled a hypocrite for my beliefs.

I can tell you what's not normal and I have science to back me up. When a person has chromosomes that are male, that is a male, if a person has chromosomes that say they are a female, they're a female. Like I said, don't try and convince me that chicken **** is chicken salad. It's not. I don't care what people to themselves, just don't try and force me to conform to your beliefs. That's what people resent.

I've addressed my feelings on sports competition. As far as bathrooms, as long as someone is fully transitioned, I see no problem with them using the bathroom they gender identify with. Notice I said fully transitioned. Not a believer of someone who still has the opposite parts getting the same privilege, but that's JMO. Not sure what you mean by child mutilation or how it fits into the story.
