Someone remind me what Joe Mixon did to get suspended at OU. Just read some comments from a Sooner fan discussing their team.

Basically they have the best skill players in a decade, Mixon looking like a Adrian Peterson reincarnated. But the worst QB situation in over decade and probably an OLine that's pretty bad.

He punched a woman in the face at a bar, if I recall correctly. Seems to be trendy with college running backs.. :blink:

broke the womens jaw and was allowed to stay on campus. Meanwhile the rest of the country was outraged by their racist frat video. What a joke. Nobody wanted to talk about Mixon knocking the girl out cold. OU officials made sure the video from the restaurant was never seen by the public. Pretty despicable ordeal. Literally it was the same deal as Deandre Johnson except they made sure nobody saw the tape.

Yeah Mixon and that young guy who broke Melvin Gordon's record a week after he broke the record. Last name starts with a P.
That dude will be a load to handle with Mixon.
We are going to need Mac and TuT hopefully step up on the inside

yeh he broke that record against Kansas. Kansas. Hes a great player but it was still kansas.

Lol, very true. Kansas is terrible. But he still got the record. And he was just a freshmen and he was a horse of a RB. Thick dude, will be a good back again this year. Hope we beat them, we need that to boost our swag even more

I'm not an advocate for hitting women, but research the incident a bit and you might find that Mixon wasn't the only party at fault which is probably why he survived with only a suspension. Weird that just because you have breasts this country decides you can get drunk and assault strangers in public without repercussions? Again doesn't justify Mixon's response, but if an un-breasted person did that most folks would say he got what was coming.

Uh, did you even read my post?

Should you only hit men if your life is in danger? What about weak helpless men?

Cmon man - read what happened to Mixon before he slugged the gal and see if you don't scratch your head and wonder what the drunk gal thought was going to come of her actions.

Seems a bit like the fsu qb that got booted situation. The woman in that video punches him in the face first, and for no reason. Yet I've heard nothing about assault charges for her.

If Mixon case is similar, then I have little problem with him playing. He did miss all of last year over it if I'm not mistaken.

It's on the interweb so folks can make up their own minds concerning Mixon. He paid a hefty price for his response to what appears to have been an unprovoked assault.

There is definitely a double standard in this country yet now we are wanting women in the special forces. Personally, if you can meet the same standards without concessions then I could care less and I've seen a few gals who could do the training. :good!:

I think you are unbelievable and are still living in the dark ages and this is coming from a dude in his 50's who's never laid a hand on a woman in anger. Times are changing and you can't continue to live in the 1950's.

Equal rights, equal pay, equal opportunity, no differences between sexes...all this means is no special treatment either. If you get drunk in public and start putting your hands on other folks then don't be surprised if somebody (male or female) knocks you on your arse.

Check my stats...married 32 years today and she remains bruiseless hence the 32 years.

You guys have your heads stuck in the sand if you don't recognize the changing climate / culture in our country. Doesn't affect the way I think or act. Notice that women are now in the Olympics boxing, wrestling, and competing in Judo along with MMA and the countless movies portraying women as kick ass heroes who go around punching anybody needing an attitude adjustment. Women are demanding a place at the most violent fringes of our society. 2 or 3 more generations and women may well no longer be considered "the weaker sex". We no longer live in a black and white world....everything has become a different shade of gray and I'm not too old or stupid to recognize the changes.

Honestly surprised walkenvol is taking this much heat. He's not wrong.

He explicitly stated several times that it's never okay to hit a woman. But as it is, women are allowed to act any kind of way toward men (especially in the bar scene) with no consequences. Do you guys honestly think that's okay? Nobody here is saying that Mixon wasn't wrong - he was. But if the story is legit, then she wasn't in the right either.

That's how I interpreted his original point, and I agree with it.

Low blow IMO unless you know for sure.

Put me down as violence against anyone is wrong unless you think your life is in danger or someone is threatening a loved one or they just pretty much give you no other option. That said sometimes victims aren't totally guiltless in these situations. I had a woman dog cuss my 5 year old son one night and I have to tell you it was really hard to turn the other cheek. It's really easy to be the social justice warrior on the internet and a little harder to be rational when emotions come into play.

Guess you haven't been following all the Rhonda Rousey vs "fill in the blank" discussions going on out there or the countless examples of folks demanding their daughters be allowed to play ball against the boys?

It starts off with violent sports against other girls and it removes the perception of girls being soft and physically inferior. Next the toughest girls want to test themselves against the boys. It's pretty easy to connect the dots IMHO

I would never hit a woman, but I don't believe women should be throwing punches at men free of consequences. If a lady is man enough to throw a punch, then she should be man enough to take one.
