Graduating tomorrow with my masters in sports management. Can you be a little more specific on what kind of topic you're looking for? What class is it?

It's a research class. So it's very general.

I was thinking about possible evaluating case law and legislation relating to pregame prayers and other coaching related seperation of church and state issues. Coaches walk a fine line in that area.

I've also considered simply doing a research paper on the NFL combine and how it relates to success in the NFL. I've found combine data going back to 1999. And I can use excel to calculate averages and deviations.

By the way: what do you plan on doing?

The combine info would be a great quantitative project.

I'm looking to get into the agent side of the industry, not as an agent myself tho.

You could also do a correlation between combine numbers, season stats the year before entering the drafts, and average draft selection.

If you really want to get fancy you could tie in their recruiting rankings all the way to success of the NFL level.

Didn't get to see it, but saw that Rickie shot -6 his last 6 holes...that's sick! Glad he won in the playoff. Good kid. Could be the beginning of big things for him.

That was one of the greatest Sunday's in golf history. Half dozen guys just going at it with their best stuff. Kisner had two opportunities to win it on #18. Both putts looked like they were going in and missed by literally an inch or less. Then Fowler just said it was his on that 4th playoff hole. The same guy that his fellow pros stated in an anonymous poll recently that he was the most overrated player (along with Poulter) on tour. They have to be feeling really stupid right now. lol. $1.8 M; 5 year tour exemption; 3 year exemption with the Masters, US Open, British Open; 600 FedEx points.

Some of the most exciting golf I've seen in a while. So fitting for it to end with a beautiful and ballsy shot on the famous 17th at Sawgrass. It was good to see someone win it as apposed to someone lose it.

I play frequently and have watched tournaments on TV and in person for 40+ years. It is always more fun when you see guys go for it all. Even if they fail, I would much rather see them amp it up and give it a good shot going with their best than to almost concede defeat and appear like they are playing for the money. Maybe it's the Tin Cup coming out in me. The going for it happened with a half dozen of them yesterday. Fowler came out the winner, but all of those guys have to be feeling good about themselves today.

Except maybe one time with Sergio on the tee box pulling out a 3 metal instead of his driver when he was down a stroke in the playoff. "This is for Venturi who thinks I need to lay up." He needed more 'Roy' in him. :)

I play and have played for while too. I was fortunate to see the final day of the Ryder Cup a few years ago when it was in Louisville. Awesome day!

Outstanding! That had to be so much fun.

Been to the Heritage (multiple times), Well Fargo, and Memorial along with some FL mini-tour and senior events. I thought I was a pretty decent golfer until I saw the real thing in person. Humbling experience. :)

I saw the U.S. Open at Bethpage a few years back. I quit trying to be good at golf after that. Now I get some nature time, while I drink a few cold ones, while I happen to be swinging a stick at a little ball to put it in a hole a few yards down yonder. I'll never be good. I realized that while I watched the pros tackle the toughest course I've ever seen.

Yep, same here. Doesn't take long to realize your idea of decent golf is in a different universe than the pros when you get a chance to watch in person lol.

Watching the pros on TV makes you want to go out and play. Watching the pros in person makes you want to sell your clubs. :banghead2:

Truth. My competitive spirit abated and I just decided to enjoy and admire what the big boys can do.

Played in a Nike Knoxville Open (now Web.com) pro am when it was at Willow Creek back in the 90's. Former UT golfer Mike Sposa was our pro. I cranked out a good drive at about 260 yards with a nice draw down the middle of a par four from the white tees that the ams played. I even got a few say "wow" out of the folks following our group. I was pretty pumped. Then Sposa, who was about 5'10" and maybe 160 lbs. throws a ball out on the ground on the pro tee, takes out his 3 wood and hits it by me about 15 yards. :cray:

Sposa lasted only 5 years with the big boys, won once in about 8-9 years on the Nike/Nationwide. There were several layers of talent better than him - which I could not begin to understand until I saw them in person. As they say in the promo, "These guys are good."

I followed Bill Kratzert at the Knoxville Open one year since he is about my age. Good enough to win 4 times on the big tour and golf commentator for CBS for a number of years. He was in his 40s and kind of playing out the string until he could get to the senior tour. As good as he once was, he could not begin to keep up with the 20 year olds out there.

Which tells me just how good Scott Stallings and Wes Roach have to be to play at that level. Hats off to them. :hi:
