When I was young (about 50 years ago) we didn't have much money so to get a good "spin" for myself I'd get a half-pint of cheap whiskey, a quart of Mogen-David 20-20 "Mad-Dog" wine and a six pack of PBR. At that time I could get all that for about $5.00. Don't think I could handle that mix now. Oh for the "good old" days!

Man, that's reminds me of high school and college. Mad Dog 20-20 lime. Looks like antifreeze. Sweet Irish Rose and I think Seagrams gin and lime. PBR Tall Boys, Little Kings, Milwaukee Beast and destroyed Jim Beam back then. Had a fake ID and people would give me a $20 to buy a couple $1 tall boys and cigarettes. Never asked for their change. I banked freshmen year, cause my first college was a 2 year school in W. North Carolina... The good old days and especially what the body could handle then. Not so much now..

Oh my Gawd! Did you just say Little Kings?!? Homecoming 1974 I turned 18 and my roommates bought Little Kings for me - first ''beer" I ever had - marked 'em on the mirror in the dorm room (Carrick) as we drank 'em!

Yes! Little Kings. I think it was an 8 pack. So easy to chug those little green bottles. And it's Wild Irish Rose not Sweet. Some clouded but good memories with really horrible beer and liquor back in the early 90's.

Hadn't thought about that day in years! Made me happy! 🍻

For me it was Stroh's, Mad Dog, Cold Duck, Little Kings. Was known to do a few (ok, a lot of) nights of Jim Beam and tap water. In my young days in the Marine Corps, if we were low on money.....a bottle of Robotusin DM (I think it was DM) and two beers would screw you up real quick. Called it a Robo trip. They stopped selling it in the exchange when it started getting sold out as soon as it was stocked on the shelf.

Much of the time the common denominator in these posts has been Little Kings. Yep, 74volz, they were in an 8 pack made up of 7 oz.cream ales in green bottles with black tops if memory (what's left of it) serves me correctly. Two to three swigs and time for another. Been there a bunch back in the day along with Schoenling, Stroh's, Hudepop, Miller, Mad Dog, (who actually admits to drinking Ripple), Beam, Heaven Hill, Cutty Sark. Thank goodness those days are over.

Schoenling!!! That was it! 😏

Hahahaha, Robo trip! My friends would chug a bottle before class in high school. Started at 7am. They got super weird and of course skipped out the rest of the day. I never drank it. But hilarious you brought that up. I drank so much Jim Beam with my college girlfriend back then till this day I can barely look at that bottle and not gag some. Semper Fi, by the way. My dad was a Marine and he had some great stories of his days on Paris Island. He absolutely loved the Marine Corp..

Amazing how taste buds change. No way I could drink Little Kings now. But I'm remember chugging those kings, getting a good buzz and going to my high school football games. So much fun. Also had some time with Ripple, that's bad stuff. I used to work in a liquor store in college and had access to all that alcohol all the time. Constant shots of mini bottles. Ever get into Rumple Minz? Why I ever drank that.. Agree with you, thank god those days are over. I don't miss those hangovers at all.. But it was a hell of a time.

My college go-to (which is right now) is Natty Daddy tall boys with lots of Evan Williams. Best way to drink when you are scraping for quarters.

My style is Steel Reserve both for their cheapness and apv. You can get 50oz of 6% alcohol for 3.15 cents or so. Can't top it really.

How come he shows zero emotion and fire in game?

Plenty of times I have screamed at the TV for him to go Sweet Lou on the umpires. He just sits there like a knot on a log. The worst game manager in baseball and I hope this buries him.

I agree, bud. I thought he might grow a pair as well as take some remedial managing classes in the off season, but instead he wants to go postal on the media. If this don't get him fired then I have lost what little respect I have left for the FO.

When I was in college, me and a buddy would go in together on a half gallon bottle of Kentucky Gentleman (6 bucks each). Buy a 32 oz PBR ($1.10 at the time), and we could get hammered cheap. Awful stuff, but good times.

That was f*****g awesome. I don't know how it f*****g benefits me, but it was f*****g awesome. I love s**t like this.

I'd say it was a mediocre effort. I think it falls well short of all-time greats like:

"I'm a man. I'm 40!"

"Hello, you play to win the game!"

"If you want to crown them, then crown their asses!"

And of course, my all-time favorite, "We talkin' bout practice. Not a game. Not a game. We talkin' bout practice."

How about:

"They are who we thought they were"

My HS football coach lived two doors down from us. He caught me taking out bags and bags of empty bottles of LK's to the garbage when my parents had been out of town all weekend and left me to it with some buddies. Back then the legal age was 18 and I had just turned it. Thank goodness it was the spring so I didn't have him running my arse at practice. Look back now at all the stuff we did and smh that am still alive. lol.

Can't recall if it was Rumple Minz, but did try a brand of the peppermint schnapps. Not for me. Did have 42 proof Southern Comfort one weekend. Never been so sick on booze. One of those "what was I thinking" moments.
