Far different background. Journalism, Communications, Law.

Yours sound more useful.

They haven't been doing me any favors here lately lol. Hopefully something turns up soon though...I'm not giving up. I've actually been thinking about heading back to school if I can't find anything before long. Good luck to you as well...

Business Administration, Accounting, and Management Information Systems. Also, a minor in Marketing...it's rough in the real world these days isn't it? What are your three?

The struggle is real ha. Finally got a new position last July with basically the same set as you minus the Accounting. Degree in Marketing, Business Admin and my MBA, but took forever to find something due to lack of professional experience. Frustrating does not even begin to describe it.

I feel for those of you trying to find work with such good educational backgrounds and pray for something good to open up for you. In my day there would have been so many choices it would have been hard to choose the one you wanted the most. Unfortunately current governmental policies and overall economic conditions are hurting a large number of people.

I will give you some unsolicited advice that worked well for me that I really did not fully comprehend until I hit 40. Make sure you go into an industry with a growing future in which you are really interested in giving up a large amount of your time on this earth. Then, be willing to do what others are not really willing to do - the complex or boring stuff. Do it well with great focus. Usually the career upside develops from there. Finally, network until the cows come home. People hire people they get to know and like that are willing to do the stuff nobody else wants or has the ability to do. That may mean a relocation is involved.

If all else fails and/or you are so driven, start your own business in something you love while working part time on the side. Best of luck to you.

I'm not sure where you live, but if you move to a place like Chicago, you'll have a job in about 3 seconds with those degrees.

Y'all are killin me, I'll have three degrees finished within the next few years then I have to job search. Plus heading into the business of sports is terrifying in itself.

The healthcare industry is booming in the Nashville/Franklin/Brentwood area. Almost always looking for admistrative/management positions.

Healthcare is busy everywhere. All the government regulation is driving people into the ground making system changes while at the same time creating new jobs. You may have to go where the jobs are, though.

A move is definitely in my near future if something doesn't give. I've been helping take care of my parents while working whenever, doing whatever. My folks are doing much better now so the time may be right to relocate. Thanks for the heads up :)

Just stay at it man...it's a dog eat dog world out there and good jobs are tough to find and keep at times. Especially up here in NE TN. Best of luck...

Good to hear about your folks man, definitely keep at it in the job search. It's really about persistence and just applying and interviewing as much as possible to anything and everything. I was constantly applying and taking any interview I could get, it's just about gaining experience and becoming comfortable in those situations. I felt like each interview would go better than the previous and eventually I caught a break.

I would love to relocate at some point myself, now that i'm almost a year in I am going to be looking at other options and advancement. Never get complacent and aim high.

Thanks a lot...I've always been pretty driven and focused. I'm not a person who gives up easily so something will definitely work out for me sooner or later. I hate to leave these hallowed hills of Tennessee, but sometimes you've just gotta do it.

One thing I have to my advantage is that I'm 100% willing to relocate, I'll go wherever the jobs are cause that's where the money is.

I'm finishing up my master's in sports management then I'll be applying to both MBA programs and a couple law schools, let the big man upstairs decide which path to choose.

That's a good attitude to have man, when you start your sports agency up keep me in mind! :salute:

Yea I want lil sissy to be able to tote the dog around by the neck all be it playfully for now and one day the dog is willing to risk it's life to defend her. As f'd up as I think the Germans were I somehow trust their dog breeding supremacy. I mean hell I heard they only wanted blue eyed blond haired babies, if you take breeding to that level surely you can create a good dog.

Ouch UCVol. Very ouch man.

I wanna visit Sweden.

I spent over a month there after high school. It was a beautiful country, with beautiful people. Everyone there was really really awesome that I met. Same with Germany in my experience. I got lost on a train in Germany and this random guy stopped us and asked us if we needed help. He spent ALL day with us, made sure we got where we needed to be, got us booked on a passenger boat instead of a cargo boat which we had been booked on by accident, let us use his phone card to call Sweden so we could let our friends know we would be at the port later than planned, took us out to eat and paid for it, and to top it all off he walked us around that oceanic city in Germany all day telling us of it's history. It was an awesome experience that I'll never forget....the kindness of strangers.

Its a rough market, but as several have said, if you're willing to work you'll find something.

I left UT with 2 degrees. I had planned to go on to grad school but changed my mind when I couldn't stomach the loans it would've required.

I took a low level job on the parts/service side of a car dealership. Started delivering stuff and putting up stock. Was pretty much managing that side within six months. Dealer principle said it was 10% because of the education and skills, but 90% that I was willing to do what was asked. They were having so much trouble finding that. I could've stayed and grew with the job, but ultimately, anything involving 'sales' just isn't for me. I stayed there and added a lot of good stuff to my resume and used it to find a much better job.

This is exactly what I was talking about in my earlier post.

I saw the other side of it when I was hiring/helping hire my replacements in the lower jobs.

There are some useless people out there. Our HR lady gave us a parade of 20-something losers who were lazier than slugs on valium. One would literally sit in an office chair we had in the warehouse and spin around, staring at the ceiling.

I took a chance on a guy that got out of the Marines, had some bad luck (bar fight on his record) and financial trouble. In the 10 years since that he had sold vacs door to door, was a construction foreman, etc. Worked his a$$ off but people would see his record and credit score and pass without an interview.

Interviewed him twice. Begged the GM to let me hire him. He figured it couldn't be any worse than what HR had presented, so he let me take a shot.

Worked out perfectly. Guy was perfect. Works as a regional rep for a big wholesale parts distributor now.
