I'm a craft beer geek, my favorite style is IPA's and DIPA's. I also really like stouts and porters, but I'll drink any craft beer at least once. Founders KBS is only released once a year, in the spring on one day, and it's usually all gone within hours. I missed it this year and didn't get any. If you like stouts look for Founders Breakfast Stout this fall, it's much easier to get, they'll have it on the shelves for a few months. It's my all time favorite stout, a perfect blend of coffee, oatmeal, chocolate and other goodness.

At this particular tasting we'll just be drinking beer, many different styles. I'm going on a run Friday and will likely pick up some Belgians, stouts, porters, saisons, sours, IPA's, just a wide variety really. And most of the guests will also bring some beer and we'll try as many as we can.

IPA is amazing. We like the same beers!

FWIW - took a 20 year hiatus for that reason. Nothing. Rediscovered life. Now an occasional glass of red with the wife is all I enjoy.

Once I get further removed from the "college" lifestyle I won't drink nearly as much.

Only for sale a couple hours per year? I now have a goal! I too will try anything once, I like the darks the most, but in the dog days I will usually go to the other side of the spectrum and have a kolsch. I like a good IPA, but I'm pretty selective about them, either really like one or really dislike it.

Agree on the disclaimer, not the beer. My taste in beer is opposite those recommendations. I like it dark. My favorite are the stouts/porters that are aged in bourbon barrels. But that's because bourbon is better. Tequila is good, but it's got to be real good for me to drink it. I have too many el cheapo tequila memories.

Straight from the store to the freezer. Sip it ice cold. Try the anejo tequila . They are aged in bourbon barrels.

I have not, nor have I heard of it until now. And now I must try it! I've tried a few of them, and my favorite to this point has been a stout that Bluegrass Brewing out of Louisville. I did some research and it's not sold here so I'm going to start putting relatives zip codes into their website until I find one that does get it! Then I'm going to visit said relative at my earliest opportunity!

You said your having a tasting. Beer only or will there be other libations too? I ask because I've seen several posts of yours where you seem to have good taste in drinks. Basically, what else do you drink?

Beer bringing families together. Makes me a little verklempt. :cray:

Hey Ron, you ever had anything from New Glarus? If you haven't, you must.

Not yet but I'd love to! I've heard very good things especially their sour beers. I don't think they distribute very far outside of WI though, maybe they'll get bigger and start distributing down this way. The midwest has some really good breweries. 3Floyds outside of Chicago makes some of the best IPA's in the world. Same with Bell's and Founders in Michigan. I've actually been to both of those breweries but never made it over to Wisconsin to New Glarus, but I will someday. :)

do you have a mellow mushroom where you live? if so you should try it out - pretty big beer selection and they have a club where you get a mug and name on a plaque on the wall (big time right?) if you try 100 different beers at their establishment

I believe they also service pizza

anyway would be a pretty big life goal for you to consider

Also have $1 beer(rolling rock in JC) and $1 slice on Mondays. I love that place

Man, if you met my family, you'd know how necessary that is...

... j/k

Whiskey seems to be the miracle worker in my family. Since I moved to IN everybody wants me to bring them W.H. Harrisons whiskey even though they sell it in TN. It gives me another reason to go home to TN though so I'll take it.
