ISIS claims responsibility but Obama won't say Islam lol idiot
My guess would be because Islam is a religion and ISIS is a terrorist organization.
Nobody in ISIS works with us but several Islamic countries and people do.
It would be a terrible idea to use a broad term that would also include allies.
Seriously, why is this such an issue. Like if he used that term or conceded to any other right wing idea, those people would suddenly like him?
It gains nothing and risks alienating friends in the region.
Trump is an extreme candidate but if any normal republican took office, his advisors would recommend against an all inclusive term and nobody would have an issue with this.
Unless some people are just so hell bent on having a war with the entire religion that they would rather offend our allies also and lose vital intelligence that helps save lives, including our troops.
I know partisan politics is one of the most ridiculous forms of blind fighting but it's not really worth people's lives to take cheap shots at the other party is it?
NM, don't answer. I've listened to political junkies enough in my life to already know the answer. Just as this thread has had a few heartfelt prayers for the victims, it has been an overwhelming partisan bashing.
Whether you or the President wants to admit it or not there is a huge number of animals that have attached themselves to Islam. My suggestion to Muslims everywhere is to acknowledge publicly in a way that no one on earth doesn't hear it. They have to rid the religeon of these less than human, pile of feces. They need to prosecute and remove clerics that preach this hate and excommunicate the cancer inside the religion. Until then they need to realize they'll be attached to it themselves, right or wrong. If I hang out with meth users I get labeled as they are. Just the way it is.
Islamic ountries that have sided with us already have declared this.
That's not good enough for people that just want a complete condemnation of that religion.
And Obama saying anything different wouldn't be any different.
There is no act or word to make partisans content with the rival.
Btw, there is no "me or Obama". I just care more about beating the actual enemy than I do griping about another religion or party.
But we know how the litmus test works, either tow the entire party line, no matter how wrong or how many lives it may cost, or you're one of "them".
Which might explain losses during a time when the party should be thriving. But I have a better idea, let's just keep alienating people and potential voters. Then we can blame it on American stupidity instead. Just as long as we find a way to blame others and never take a look at our own thinking and actions.
Other countries talk a weak game and they act even weaker. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Yemen, and other countries have the ability to infiltrate and remove the radical clerics but they don't. We could move in and take these hate cultivators out but they won't allow it. The leaders within the the Muslim faith say token things but are not nearly as forceful as their hate filled clerics from within their own religion. Until the Muslim says "we've had enough" and change it from within, it's never going to change.
Did you even see the Muslim cleric's response in Orlando? It was laughable.
You're tactic in this is admirable but this is too important to get sidetracked, at least for me.
I asked a simple question, How does Obama saying Islam instead of ISIS help?
All of your intelligent speeches or focus switching does nothing to answer this.
A US president saying Islam will alienate allies, give ISIS bulletin board material and do nothing to give us a strategic advantage.
If having another insult of BO is the more important to anyone, that's their thing I guess.
But while I am retired, I still have family there. Stupid partisan cheap shots pale in comparison to doing everything we can to keep any advantage, source of intelligence or anti recruiting method we have, period.
If he doesn't acknowledge Islam has a significant radical faction it comes across that he either doesn't believe that it is significant or he is sympathetic to it. The time for political correctness is over. I'm not at all a champion for trump but he realizes this and is capitalizing on it. Not just on this issue but many.

He wouldn't be the first of their foes to call out all of Islam during their conflict. It has never gained any advantage in the past and I know your don't really believe any different now.
Hell, may as well have a sheriff say "Another black suspect" or if that doesn't relate, maybe a mayor can say "those Methodists have really been on a crime spree as of late."
Both of those analogies are ridiculous of course but no more ridiculous than your idea sounds to a non terrorist believer in Islam.
I don't know if it is the politics or religion that drives the otherwise intelligent members of VN to declare already proven failed policies a smart move.
If your desire for whichever makes you unwilling to admit no good change would occur, so be it.
But I would much rather be your/many of yours opponent on this than to tick off a source of intelligence helping to keep my nephew alive.
Over what? Seriously.
I too am ashamed of Bruin for letting acts of horror make him reevaluate his views. How dare you, bruin!?
In all seriousness, though, I'm not sure I agree with you, Bruin. But I have begun to have some similar seeds of doubt of late. Haven't really figured out exactly where I stand yet. It's a tough issue.
Trying to look at things from a viewpoint different from one's own is difficult to do and is a rare skill these days. Props for giving it a go!
When the methodist start an organized effort of hate, I would fully expect the president and all other methodist to call a spade a spade. No one is asking him to condemn all of Islam but to acknowledge radical Islam. He avoids it and should be called out for it. He needs to pick a side instead he's placating to PC crowd.
I've always been staunchly pro-gun myself. I think we have to figure out some way to stop these guns from getting in the wrong hands, but really have no idea what the solution should be or even if there is a solution.I fall on the pro gun side myself.
If making murder illegal doesn't stop murderers, I just don't see how a certain clip being illegal would deter a terrorist from obtaining one.
Not that I believe someone with a carry permit would be an ultimate solution either.
They could definitely help in any one situation but when you thwart an extremist, they just launch the next attack sooner.
I'm really just sick of their entire crusade... - jihad.
