That's all drivel. There are only two true political philosophies. Liberty and tyranny. Tyranny has many names and many apllications but one common theme, the subjugation of man. The founders understood this. John Locke, Edmund Burke, Charles deMontesque, Adam Smith, and Alexis deTocqueville understood this. It's the entire premise of the United States.
Where is the line between liberty and anarchy? Anarchy leads to even crueler despots.

Paralysis by analysis..yep that's gonna stop it. If you get cancer you destroy it, or it destroys you. Sitting around for months, mulling over your options...gets you dead as a hammer.

The point.

Your head.

Of course action is needed. Islamic extremism is a huge problem and it has gotten worse and worse over the past century especially. The point I'm making is that underlying causes need to be fully understood to address the problem correctly. To use your cancer analogy, take lung cancer. Using radiation or some other medical treatment to attack the cancer can save a life potentially, no doubt about it. But if a country has a lung cancer epidemic and also happens to have a large percentage of the population who are smokers, then just getting everybody medical treatment and hoping for the best probably isn't the best way to fight the epidemic. Just like liposuction isn't the best answer to a country's obesity epidemic.

The world isn't just black and white. I get that it's easier to go on about your daily life if you pretend it is and that you're on the white side, but that's just not the case. Not one of the people you named would have accepted that there are "only two true political philosophies." None of them were that lacking in nuance.

I'm not lacking in nuance. I understand there are infinite circumstances and degrees of this or that. You have to be able to see the big picture first before you can judge and fully understand all the nuances. Those people DID understand that. That's what links them together.

Where is the line between liberty and anarchy? Anarchy leads to even crueler despots.

Long story made short: The Constitution. That's probably not nuanced enough for some of us, but basically the Constitution was designed to allow the maximum amount of individual liberty that can be sustained perpetually. When boiled down deeper you could say civil society and common law, which are directly related, are the barriers of anarchy in general.

Max Wray has zero to do with Jacoby's decision. 2. The Chandler and LSU stuffno clue. 3. From a family member i spoke with, he's nowhere near a UT lock. The problem lies within this offense and the WR production. Can't call yourself WRU based on Williw G, Meacham, A. Miller, Carl Pocken, etc. Those guys are irrelevant to an 17/18 yr old kid. 3 names they know currently Watkins, Hopkins, M. Bryant, not yo mentionthey just played in the NC so Clempsun is prime time right now

You seem like a genuine person with an interest in Americanism and political philosophy. I recommend going through the imprimis archives on Hillsdale College's website. It's loaded with great material. I also recommend the book 'Liberty and Tyranny.' :good!:
