We are going to NYC on May 12th for a couple of days. What are your Top 10 things to do while visiting?
So far on the agenda:
Central Park - Alice in Wonderland statue.
NYC Public Library & Bryant park
Times Square
Staten Island Ferry
Double decker bus tour
Broadway Show (much to my dismay)
Rockafeller Center / Tower
try to go to the Tonight Show taping
pizza
nice steak dinner
Yes I got the memo to avoid putting the suitcase on the bed.
What do we need to add / take off the list??
-Eat a meal at Shake Shack... You can thank me later.
-If you like comedy go to the Upright Citizens Brigade... There are 2 locations and it's cheap and you will most likely laugh your fanny off.
-Bus tours are cool. My wife and I did a Hollywood Tour where they drove around and pointed out where famous movie scenes were filmed. I enjoyed it.
-Yankee Stadium tour was super fun too. Although the Bronx is kinda sketchy, so going on a game day would probably be ideal. Or take a cab straight to the stadium so you're not walking a ton.
-If you like Italian food there is a great romantic Italian place in Brooklyn called Bamonte's. Pretty fancy, but didn't destroy our wallet. Also it made me feel like I was in the Godfather.
-Times Square is cool, but you can't really do anything but look at it and go "whooaahh". I wouldn't go out of my way to see it. You'll most likely pass it on a bus tour anyways.
-Broadway shows are fun. We saw Wicked, and it was pretty amazing. But I kind of like stuff like that.
-walk around like you own the damn place and don't get too offended when people seem rude. Cause they will. But they don't mean any harm. People were actually super nice overall once we started a conversation. But New Yorkers are not cordial at all. That was kind of a culture shock for me as a lifelong southerner.
These are only suggestions. Make it your own adventure and have an awesome time. It's a magical place in its own weird way.
