Wouldn't it be more logical for a sizable chunk of Rubio's support to go to Kasich, the other establishment republican?

"Trump's lead over Cruz declines to 49/43 when the two are matched head to head because Rubio voters overwhelmingly move to Cruz in that scenario (70/20) and Kasich voters move to Cruz as well, although by a pretty narrow 39/34 margin."

Public Policy Polling: Republican Presidential Primary 2016

As far as Marco himself, I expect him to jump on the bandwagon of whoever he thinks will win which is Trump. Yes, the establishment whom Marco is embedded with, would prefer Kasich at this point, but I think Marco will look ahead to the general election and start backing who he believes the candidate will actually be. He may hold off another primary day or so to allow Kasich to sputter out first, but I believe he will endorse Trump, even though his voters would prefer Cruz and his friends would prefer Kasich.

I meant in a 3 man race, not in a two man race.

I do not believe Rubio's votes go to Kasich. Maybe like 15% of them at best. He literally cannot win, and his blocking ability is severely limited now that Ohio is over with. He's done all he can do. If the convention was the master plan Marco would have stayed in himself. I would bet that several Rubio voters will just stay home. Those who remain will mostly go to Cruz. But, honestly, I'm afraid it's too late now anyways.

This country's two party system is getting exactly what it deserves, crooked vs. evil.

If that is what it takes to bring the libertarian party into consideration for the ignorant masses then so be it.

Unfortunately I feel this country is too stupid to consider it.

I have many libertarian beliefs and leanings. And I could vote that way, but I just need them to be a socially conservative candidate. Because no matter how free of government they want to make America (which I love the idea of) they will still be responsible for appointing Supreme Court justices. And I can't support someone who will likely appoint a liberal judge.

I don't know where those numbers are from, unless it's a specific state. Cruz beats trump head to head.

I've seen a spread of +15 for Cruz. And have heard an internal poll say it's +22 for cruz.

So you would vote for a republican, no matter how horrible they may be due to the off chance a supreme court opening may come up?

That's your right but I don't agree with putting a devil in the white house or perpetuating a system because of social issues that may or may not come up.

Have you not seen my posts throughout this thread? I will never vote for trump. No matter what. I like Cruz, who actually has some libertarian leanings himself. Cutting government and its control.

Ok so if trump gets the nomination you just wont vote?

I will. Just not for trump or hilary. Not that it will really matter in TN anyways.

That's what I've been trying to tell some family members who say they will vote for
him over hilary.

My argument: trump is sketchy at best. And so if he doesn't line up with your values, why risk voting for him and giving him your support? He will win TN and KY (my brother is in KY) anyways, without your vote. So why not just not vote for him? Then if he wins the general, he will have 4 years to prove himself a true conservative. And if he does, then fine. And you can vote for him in 2020.

I just don't think he is a true conservative. And that he is taking the Republican Party for chumps.

It's not an off chance. It's a reality. One we know for sure. Possibly up to three. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court has become very powerful. We're literally one justice' svote away from eroding the 1st and 2nd Amendments. Permanently. Not just for a presidential term or two, but forever. It's pretty serious.

Yeah, I think that was Florida specifically, but I was merely trying to demonstrate that most Rubio voters second choice is Cruz.

Indeed. I believe that is the case too. I think in MI, Rubio supporters were for Cruz over trump 4-to-1.

Counterpoint: If any party truly stand behind the constitution it is the Libertarian party so I would have complete faith that a Libertarian president would nominate a justice who would uphold your rights far more than a democrat or Trump.

Food for thought even though it is from the Post which is trash:

When are they opening in Knoxville? Anyone know? I've been excited about it for months. There was an article in the KNS in November saying they would be opening in early 2016, but I haven't seen or heard anything since then. It's impossible to overstate how excited I am about Knoxville getting a decent fried chicken place.

I respect a lot about the Libertarian Party. I truly do. However, the nutjobs have kind of tainted that pool for a lot of people like me. I don't believe in isolationism and neo condefederatism, open borders, defunded military, anti-Semitism, or multiple conspiracy theories. There's a whooole lot of that kind of thing going on over in that tent. I can definitely bond with the Libertarians on the pursuit and defense of liberty though. I'd prefer a Libertarian over a Democrat. The sad fact is, however, that all a decent third party candidacy does is guarantee a Democrat victory each and every time.

Ha there are loonies in every party, you know that. If you study the official platform and those that support and believe in it like Gary Johnson it almost makes too much sense to give them a seat at the table.

Gary Johnson. Isn't he prochoice? That's why I can't support him.
