Sure I'm proud we didn't quit & played hard all 4 quarters but there's no way we should lose that game. We have enough talent to beat that msu team whether on the road or not.

That first half was some of the worst football I've seen a UT team play in a long time. It was absolutely pathetic. The fact that we played that bad & were still in the game proves that msu isn't that good. A lot of the mistakes were clearly a sign of poor coaching. We made msu look waaaay better than what they are. To play like we did with more talent & coming off a bye week is inexcusable. Period

I just want people to see both sides of the argument. More important than any other, you let CDD go now, our program gets put in a position of 3 HCs in five years, substantial buy-out money on the line, defense is an issue having a new system and DC, a good portion of our best players are gone after one additional year, and you can kiss D. Green and M. North goodbye if our staff gets overhauled. JMO. I'm open to listening to the other side with convincing reasons.

Agreed.

Letting Dooley go may not be best, but I really can't see us being at a championship level with him as head coach.

There's my issue. I don't believe he's a SEC championship level coach. I think, at best, he is our transitional coach that rebuilds the foundation of our program.

That said, I honestly don't know (barring some unseen home run), if its worth yet another change if he can scrape up 7 wins. I'm almost hesitant enough that 6 might keep things the same.

Answer this, as a whole, which team was more talented tonight?

Offense? UT.
Defense? MSU.

Defense wins games in this league. Their offense is good enough to get the job done.

and...which team was better coached?

Honestly, it is hard to tell. I would call it a tie. I did't see anything spectacularly good or bad from either side.

Which team made dumb mistakes all throughout the 1st half? Which team played efficient and did not make critical mistakes? That should answer the question on which coaching staff did better.

I agree. People can't fatham the fact the UT is not the best job in america. They think we can pull any coach in america from their job. If we fire dooley, we will have to take a chance on another "upcoming" coach. So is it really worth it? IMO no. So unless we lose to mizz, vn, and ky... I have to say keep DD

Can you really blame a fumble and missed tackles on coaching? Or the kickoff blunder.

I have been a huge DD fan but I am off the bandwagon. We got outcoached tonight in all phases of the game. At some point you can't make excuses anymore. I will continue to support this team but we need a change.

This. There were a fair amount of mistakes that should be placed on the plates of Chaney and Sunseri tonight, but I thought most of the plays that changed the game were on the players and the players alone.

Yep.

Again, I'll go back to the dice thing. Vegas is built on the money from idiots that believe the next roll will make them rich.

I tend to agree. I think that is where I fault this staff.

They should have dumbed it down this year more than they did.

How dumb is this? The receiver you are covering can not beat you inside and give the qb an easy target when you are in man coverage. Teague and Brewer strike again. Their pass plays worked because of bad, bad coverage by us. 45 & 34 can NOT cover down field and can not play the ball in the air. We just need better players. Staff's can't go out and play. If it is in you it is in you (like #33 & #84) and it can't be hidden. #11 may have checked out or either he is hurt. We are missing our only proven offensive weapon and it is showing. Another painful loss to live down. Big game coming up next week.

At this point, the type of HC everyone is begging for is not available. Moreover, I don't think anyone would still want this job, despite having some damn good playmakers on the team. I'm not on the Gruden bandwagon. I think that's just Vol fans hoping for a freaking miracle. I think CDD stays with a 7-5 record. If that happens, every loss would have been to a ranked opponent. I also think some of this is just sour fans venting on a message board. Lets see how we react.

Offense? UT.
Defense? MSU.

Offense: UT across the board.

Defense:
UT on the DL
Even at LB - meaning equally bad
MSU at DB

UT ran it right at their front 8 all night and they couldn't stop it. Not even close.

Bottomline here here is talent edge overall absolutely goes to UT.

With the exception of maybe our kickers, these season's woes fall directly on the staff. Hell, its taken Chaney 2.5 years to figure out how to call a game. I get the lack of talent argument, and for the first two years, it was a reasonable one. There really is no excuse this year. The foundation is there.

Fumble - no. Nothing that can be done about the injuries to Neal and Lane.
Missed tackles - some
kickoff - totally. After CP scored you had to expect that the might try to squib/pooch kick it. Coiner should have (and for all I know, he did. I doubt it though.) stressed to the kickoff team that they had to field the ball. Also the formation we were in was questionable. Only 1 player covering over 20 yards of field. Very susceptible to a short kick.

And how about the 2 illegal formations? The wasted timeout? Going away from the running game in the 2nd quarter? Refusing to adjust to the quick passes to slot receivers out of 5 wide? Leaving Brewer/Teague in the game?
