Agree. My support won't change but I will be more open to a change after the season.

I will never quit on this team because I can't. I literally can't cheer for anyone else cause I love this team too much. The problem is, games like this hurt. I wonder if it would hurt less knowing that we have less talent than anyone we face (assuming we would lose every game) or the University disbanding the football program all together. No one on this team knows how to win big games, I don't know who would take us to that level, but I'm all for them stepping up or being our new head coach.

I support this team. I will not quit supporting this team, no matter how bad or how good they are. The fact that we even have to go through this makes me sick.

At this point, I just really am convinced that Dooley is not the answer. I do agree that things will work themselves out at the end of the year.

A.J. Johnson became the first Vol with 20 or more tackles since Tom Fisher had 21 tackles at Auburn (in Birmingham) on Sept. 26, 1964

With a 98-yard kickoff return and an 11-yard reception, Cordarrelle Patterson became just the fifth player in Tennessee history with a touchdown via return and a either a touchdown by rushing or receiving.




If nothing else, we are watching some pretty special Vols this year.

4 head coaches in 6 years is not the answer, 4 defensive coordinators in 5 years is not the answer.

Coaches had to have recruits 10 and 24.....noway could we lose them to UF and Bama, now look where they are.

Really losing Neal and Lane hurt tonight and i wouldnt be surprised to find out Bray has ligament damage.

Disagree with with your first statement. The entire third quarter and a good portion of the fourth showed we absolutely have the horses. That is the frustrating part of all this. The coaching and scheming, particularly in the first half was an embarrassment, to say the least.

Sadly, I don't think that will happen. Its become somewhat fashionable to absolutely crap all over anything involving UT football. I can count the people I've seen already wailing about how bad its going to get.

Maybe it will, but show the F up you p*ssies instead of getting snarky and talking about how much we suck.

We had two weeks to prepare for a team that we are much more talented than and we came out completely flat. No excuse. We can't start a game or finish one. Absolutely no reason to lose to Mississippi State. None. This is getting more painful to watch. No sense in keeping doubt in players, fans, or more importantly recruits minds. Cut them loose and move on. Start over next year.

Theres way to much thinking on defense, a lot of plays guys have no clue what they are supposed to do. It doesnt help there are some physical limitations in the secondary

The lack of defensive adjustments is killing me. We run the same man coverage over and over. Like I said in the other thread, it ain't hard to complete a pass when you know exactly what the defense is doing. The fact that after 6 games we have not adjusted to take away inside passes to formations with 3 receivers on one side is mind boggling.

I disagree.

MSU was trying to get the game over with. Mullen was playing it super safe. Their players began to stop making plays.

Our secondary is nonexistent. Our linebackers are slow. Lathers is god-awful for a fifth year senior. Our D-Line lacks any depth.

I swear, I am either watching a different team or everyone is so disgruntled with losing that they have lost all sense of the true reality of our program relative to the SEC. We were in so much worse shape than Vol fans ever realized when Kiffin left.

I tend to agree. I think that is where I fault this staff.

They should have dumbed it down this year more than they did.

I'll give this a shot. Oh, you said 'rational'. Well, I'll try anyway.

- The defense sucked in the first half, played better in the second half and then went back to sucking on the last drive.

- Overall, Tennessee played better than Mississippi State in the second half. If we played with the fundamentals expected of high schoolers, then we would have won this game.

- I present to you a list of game-changing screwups:

A 14-yard punt by Durr - whoops, I mean Darr. Thankfully he never saw the field after this.
A brainfart by Mychal Rivera on a kickoff.
A dropped interception by Byron Moore when it hit him in the numbers.
A fumble on a crucial possession by Devrin Young.

Anybody who has ever touched a football knows that these are all bad things. I do not fault the coaches for these mistakes, because it is my belief that the players should already know these things. If they don't, they're playing the wrong sport.

I honestly don't know what to make of this game. I'm pissed, but it's not directed at Dooley like I expected - not entirely, at least. I honestly just think the team let itself down tonight. They were put in a position to take this game away from Miss State, but instead they pulled a gun, pointed it at their own collective crotch, and pulled the trigger*.

*CP is exempt from this statement. He almost won this game by himself.

A lot of it is talent. The defensive backs are not very good. Coleman and McNeil have shown potential. Waggner is very average. Moore is not that good. Gordon is boom or (usually) bust. Brewer and Teague are awful. Front 7 isn't as bad. Lathers missed some tackles and was out of position some. We don't really have a great pass rusher. Maggitt is playing hurt.

My frustration with Sunseri is just the lack of adjustments. We use the same coverage over and over and teams exploit the same weaknesses in that coverage over and over.

The transition is part of it, but regardless we should still be better than this.

Sunseri is garbage. I thought he was a great hire, but its been an obvious glare on our team. I mean with Brewer and Teague still getting burned its obvious Sal can't plan-coach. Not to mention our entire sideline of C team coaches didn't even notice the clock running inadvertenly.

There is loads of talent in the backend. Being out of position and giving 10 yard cushions hurt more than the personnel did tonight. When your defensive coordinator has to pull the LBs aside and ask them if they understand what they are supposed to be doing midway through the season it falls squarely on the coaching staff.

The lack of talent is largely BS at this point. This staff can recruit, its easy to justify that. Coaching, however, is an entirely different matter.
