So Jumper has shown the ability to play a solid game AGAINST the Gators but let's advocate playing a dude that we have seen play like 5 snaps at the end of the game against Indiana State. Lol, I understand showing confidence in Bituli and wanting him to play. He is in his 2nd year and has shown what he is capable of doing. All these posters hoping we play Ignot need to realize they have nothing to back that opinion up. Just rivals eval and practice snippets from journalists. We have literally no idea where he is at in mental preparation or being able to read his keys. All we know is he flashed some speed running down Indiana State's 4th string RB at the end of the game.

Fair enough. I am definitely guilty of that. I just thought that, based on the eye test, those two jump out. That's why I said long term. I'm not hating on Jumper, but I feel like the ceiling for him, McDowell, Bates, and Berry are "solid" games. I feel like the two I mentioned above have a higher ceiling and could potentially take over games. I could be dead wrong, but it didn't take long to know JRM and Kirkland were different animals when healthy. Their athleticism just jumped off the screen. My hope is that our coaches can get our better athletes up to par mentally so they can play.

No because we aren't douchebags.

Maybe I am wrong but I am just not a fan of 20 at all.

I don't remember him making any splash plays in his career. I think the word that he was going to be JRM's heir apparent still sticks with a lot of fans. He doesn't seem to have good instincts at the position which is the chance you take when you convert these safeties.

Shoop said Ignont has a high football IQ and is the best at setting the defense, behind Jumper. Said Ignont just needs game experience and will have a bigger role as the season goes on. Shoop also praised Bates, then hardly played him. What the coaches say in interviews doesn't always translate to what they do on the field.

This all day. Finally some rational smarts displayed up n her.

Perfectly reasonable response. However, can it actually get any worse by putting Ignont in? I haven't advocated either way, but I'm not sure it can get any worse than what we have seen in the first two games. Maybe he thinks it can, I'm just not sure how.

Most of the hate is unfounded. People can't get past their first impression.

White ginger walk-on whose daddy supposedly purchased his playing time. Yep, he had no chance with this fanbase.

Similarly, people would have had a meltdown upon DeBord's departure if he was 45 and had hair and came from Arizona or something.

Eli Wolf being out might be a blessing in disguise. Forces the coaches to move Bumphus up the depth chart, and from everything I've read and heard, he may have the most upside of any of our TEs. Curious if he'll find his way into the game.

Injuries and transfers seem to be the most effective way of getting our coaches to make the right personnel decisions. See Alvin Kamara and Daniel Bituli.

First 2 games? All I know is, against the exact offense we are facing this week Jumper played a solid game. Good enough for us to win. Can it get worse than that playing a true freshman on the road in the swamp before he is ready?!?! Hell yes it can get much worse. Jumper is certainly limited and hopefully the guys with higher ceilings pass him up sooner rather than later. But blind faith that true freshman backups would be better this week in the swamp is a flawed idea.

I say let's play ball control and run it down their throats with 6 or 7 minute drives that ends in points. Wear their defense down and then start taking deep shots down the field and put them out of their misery.

I think there are extremes on both sides of the fence. Anyone that can't see the improvement with Jumper is on the extreme negative side. I'm not so much worried about him being white as I am not being able to get to the play against faster teams. He has had some tackles for loss I don't remember many that weren't assisted. He did light up that Florida back on the screen last year. There is a reason that we see him making tackles on the back of the other team. It's because he's late. The same criticisms were said of AJ Johnson when he was here until his abbreviated last year. I think we need linebackers that can hit running backs and make them go backwards. In order to do this, you have to first be able to get to the play. To be fair though, we only have one backer that has shown that ability in any capacity in Bituli.

Yes, the first two games of this season.

Ignont could have also played "good enough for us to win".

The question is, could Ignont have played better, and to put it bluntly, not made it look like it was 11 vs 10 against Georgia Tech.

Jumper hasn't played very well this year, the question is would Ignont look just as bad.

Doesn't look like we will find out either way. Trust the coaches, right?

Im not sure what the deal with Wiggins is but it would seem to me he has the experience and ability to help this team. I think he could make a lot of plays for us.

You said "Could it be worse" and I responded with how it could be worse. You responded with well it could have been better. Of course it could be better, could. Jumper has definite limitations. He proved good enough to beat THIS OFFENSE that we play Saturday. A true freshman COULD be better. A true freshman on the road at the swamp COULD be much worse.
