I didn't take it as him saying UT players couldn't handle Shoop's D. I took it as him defending Shoop by implying we didn't get to see the full implementation due to its complexity.

I think there are a few reasons why that are more likely to have hindered Shoop besides players' IQs.
Injuries to key players, position coaches not on board/not good coaches, not using his (Shoop's) own terminology. I think all those came into play at some point during last season.

We saw flashes - the 2nd half vs UF was as good a defense as has been played in Knoxville in some time. Was dominant. And that was without Cam or Kirkland.

They moved the ball 8 yards in the first 20 minutes of the second half. That game showed me what Shoop is capable of.

Don't look for it anytime soon. For some reason, he has an attitude about it. He seems ticked that his fans are frustrated that he has taken five years to write this one at this point and he still apparently is not all that close to finishing it.

It also shows how important healthy DTs are. We did that without Sutton, DK, and JRM. Later in the year when Sutton and DK were back the defense was shredded because our DTs were hurt.

A lot of teams did that to florida for much longer than a half. 28 pts was awful to give up to that subpar offense

Really only gave up 21. Game was over when we were up 17, but continue on with your agenda to take the opposite stance of the minority in order to have a long debate.
