Make VN Great Again!

Give 88 the BAN HAMMER!!:spank:

I really hope Butch can pull off 9 wins at least this regular season because the man can recruit and the East is still ripe for the taking.

We have by far the best class in the division right now and with so many great prospects close to coming on board we could have a dominate lead by time the season starts.

If Butch could just pull it together I feel like he is close to taking off and getting us into the area of competing to finish in the top 10 every year and right there below Bama in the SEC.

That is as much as you can ask for in the current SEC with the Bama machine rolling.

I am pulling hard for this new staff this fall.

GO VOLS!

I think this could be the "Dabo" year...where he turns it around and wins 10+ and goes on a run of doing better and better.

He's made the necessary staff changes...

S&C sucked, guys were hurt all over so he goes and gets The Rock. Check.

OL was soft but depth is there, Butch fires his buddy and promotes Wells, who's tougher and apparently a fantastic recruiter. Check.

WR's coach wasn't liked by some players, fans, etc...Butch brings in a young guy who can still play, wears cleats in practice and runs routes, players love him as do recruits. Butch also adds a veteran NFL WR coach as a QC guy. Check.

QB coach was clearly an issue so Butch hires a guy with 78 years of experience who seems to be doing very well with the current roster and on the recruiting trail. Check.

DL wasn't a huge issue other than injuries but Strip is very well liked by players and he's still around but Butch added a guy with more Head Coaching experience than him to coach DL, Hoke's specialty. Oh and he's an excellent recruiter. Check.

CB's couldn't quite figure out the turning your head idea when the ball is in the air among other issues and in comes CCW who has a reputation of being a very good position coach, recruiter and his players love him. Check.

Now I know I'm the resident sunshine pumper around here but all of those hires are EXACTLY what Butch needed to do to get this thing to the next level. He's done that. Now it's time to work out, practice, get better, recruit, and prepare to win the SEC. I think there's too much talent on both the roster and the coaching staff to screw this up.

Expectations from the outside are low for UT, most are going to pick the Vols to finish 3rd in the East.
Good, let them sleep on team 121...

Minimum 9 wins this fall but I think it's the perfect storm to get back to 10+.

GBO!

Nice post. We need 9+ regular season wins this year. I want to see this thing finally take off for Butch Jones.

I'm all in on this plus Larry Scott as the OC. Rediscovery of the benefits of actually using the TE and passing between the hashmarks to all receivers should be very helpful thanks to him. Callaway and Williams working underneath as well as outside will help us forget about Malone going pro.

One of the most underrated aspects of all the new coaching hires is how easily Butch was able to pull those guys in. The program and his overall job status aren't bulletproof right now, so every hire theoretically had the risk of being "one and done." The new coaches could have easily said no and either left the program or just stayed where they were, and that might have happened if Butch had a bad reputation.

I think he's proving himself to be a great head coach to work for while also not being too loyal to people who are underperforming. That's a good combination for a leader in any role.

Great post and I agree but I will say this...the season will be decided in the trenches. We do well there 10 wins is a cinch.
