"As we have noted for the last 10 days or so, we believe Tennessee's AD search is going to continue to take all kind of twists and turns.

Sunday, it's newest twist involved North Carolina Athletic Director Bubba Cunningham. Thursday and Friday, Cunningham was the hot name and appeared to the the choice of Tennessee's hired search firm, Turnkey.

Sunday multiple sources indicated that Cunningham is no longer interested in the job and is either in the process or has pulled his name out of the race going from the guy many believed was emerging as the favorite on Friday to apparently being a non-factor in the search.

It's unclear Cunningham's reasons for no longer being interested in the job, but the Tarheels head man also turned town Florida earlier this year to remain in Chapel Hill.

The question now for Tennessee's search committee which includes Chancellor Davenport is who is going to make the list of finalists and will get an interview. Cunningham was thought to be an emerging favorite because of his experience with a Power 5 school something Davenport has made clear she would prefer. Would she push for Cincinnati athletic director Mike Bohn? Does this mean Phillip Fulmer or David Blackburn moves back to the front?

Sunday news provides more questions than answers other than the constant and that is a search full of continued twists."

Lmao. What a debacle. He would have been nice.

Should have known if he played Florida he would play us but was thinking maybe this lady has a better connection to him. Clearly not. Maybe she is a huge idiot that will screw this up. If she hires the Cincy guy then I hope someone 💩 On her coats Dane cook style

If it ends up being Bohn, all you Knoxville residents feel free to burn mattresses.

Just not sure that being the AD at Colorado can truly be considered Power 5 experience. The only good thing is that he apparently made a good hire in McIntyre right before he was forced out. Let's get Blackburn and be done.

Blackburn. Hamilton. Cheek. Hart. You all suck and are the reason we have struggled in basketball and football for a decade. Thanks for nothing.

Meanwhile, in an office in Chattanooga...

Maybe it was always Blackburn or Fulmer.

This. By having all of these names pop up, then go away, it gives the impression that the new chancellor was very involved with the hire. When one of these 2 are hired, she will announce him and say they looked at "X" number of candidates, and "insert name" was the best fit for the job. In reality, the guy who gets the job was getting it 2-3 months ago.

New Chant: It's hard to be a Tennessee Vol.

Until regime change occurs in all positions above the AD including the BOT - expect the beatings to continue. Clueless. JacketVol is correct. Why would we expect anything less?

DB should have been selected and announced pre bowl game.

Maybe, but I think it may be more of:

Davenport: "I'm the chancellor here and I am going to be heavily involved in this hire. I want to give my all to Tennessee."

DePetrio: "Uh, ok."

Davenport: "Thank you, now how about this guy?"

Depetrio: "Nah."

Davenport: "How about this guy? He seems nice""

Depetrio: "Nah."

Davenport: "OK the, this guy was my BFF at Cincinnati, I think he'd be real good."

Depetrio: "Nah. I am giving you 100% authority to make this hire as long as it's Fulmer or Blackburn. "

See we do make a difference....:loco:

Yeah, I mean you can't deny this kind of logic.

Mike Hamilton. Yeah, we all remember him, was from NC and a graduate of Clemson - SC. Just that memory alone should ban even the thought of another Carolina tarnished UT AD ... ever! Somebody needs to explain that one to Davenport real quick, and in plain simple English - like "an offer she can't refuse" kind of simple.

I mean, Cunningham took a job in the same area Hamilton was born. So, you know. :ermm:

Or someone leaking names to press to make her look stupid for dragging this out instead of hiring the locals. Pretty odd to go from hot name to not interested overnight.
