Listen to Hubbs segment on sportstalk yesterday. Sounding more and more like Blackburn isn't a candidate.

Fear is the main driving force of why I'm talking about the Cinci AD. But his name is in the mix it sounds like.

I didn't catch Hubbs' comments yesterday. Maybe Blackburn is falling off, and it wouldn't surprise me. I think Jim Phillips is a name we will hear. Penn State tried to get him back in 2014, IIRC, and he actually has a graduate degree from UT as well as was an assistant AD here.

I'll say something nice as soon as I'm convinced that really you.

So far, you've talked about wanting to get back to work and haven't threatened me once.
Feeling a little skeptical.

:)

Easing my way back in brother. Trust me...i'm still going to kill you. It's just more fun to let you know it's coming, then sit back and watch you squirm waiting for it.

We're good. You're still dead. :good!:

Thanks to everyone for the regards yesterday.

Yes Kristy*, as it turns out, I I guess I was being literal. I just didn't know it at the time.

YorkVol...I did call and offer to go in to work this morning. All I got back as a response from my boss was..."You're kidding right?". I take that to mean, no?

I apologize to all who had to deal with Sarge in my absence. I thought I had locked his cage before I left...my bad.

Welcome back BB. Glad you are all better. If they didn't use spare parts to assemble you Marines, you might hold up better.

Also, I noticed my big box of Crayola's is missing since you've been back. Anything you need to tell me???

Nice! Welcome back my friend, glad you're ok

Tennessee’s first ever football contract with BYU came with a unique out clause.

The Vols’ two-game series with the Cougars, announced Thursday, includes a 2019 game at Neyland Stadium and a 2023 game at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

But if BYU joins a Power 5 conference at any point in the next four years, the Cougars can cancel the second game in the series without paying Tennessee damages, as long as proper notice is served.

(Want the latest scoop on Tennessee football and basketball? Make sure you're in the loop — take five seconds to sign up for our FREE Vols newsletter now!)

From Section 13 (a) of the series contract:

“If BYU joins a Power 5 conference (SEC, ACC, Big 10, Big 12 or PAC 12) and begins competing in a full Power 5 conference football schedule prior to or beginning in the 2023 season, the 2023 GAME may be cancelled by BYU, at its sole discretion, with no liquidated damages if notice is given twenty-four (24) months prior to the 2023 GAME. Specifically, notice of cancellation due to Power 5 conference affiliation should be given prior to September 1, 2021 to waive liquidated damages described in Section 14.”

If either team otherwise breaches the contract, the team breaking the agreement would owe $2 million to the other school, with the payment made within three months of the breach.

There was no compensation between the teams in the two-game contract.

Nobody wants Fulmer over Blackburn. There's no divided fanbase. Fans want Blackburn.

Only our boosters are divided on that issue. They are selfish idiots.

*Fans should want a good hire.

Blackburn or not. Has this dragged on way too long? Yes. But he isn't the only one capable.

We need someone who wants to win because our athletic department currently doesn't ( and hasn't since dickey left) care about winning.

UT has done some seriously baffling things over the years. But taking this long to hire an AD and letting Blackburn twist in the wind and ultimately NOT get the job that he was trained to do is by far the most illogical.

UT has this self-hating characteristic ingrained in them/us where we don't feel like we deserve to be the best and nobody "from here" is capable of leading us.

I'm not so sure an apology is enough...

This article is a little old, but Swain was talking about it today.

Florida is the best school in the country at producing NFL draft busts | For The Win

We definitely should be using this in recruiting. Here is an excerpt:

Florida has had 15 1st round draft picks since 2000. Of those picks, 8 have been "busts," or 53.3%. They lead Division 1 in that category. Penn State has had 5/10 and FSU has had 9/19.

By contrast, Tennessee is second in fewest busts with only 3 out of 13 being labeled as busts (23%). I think it is significant that we have had almost as many 1st round pics as Florida and we have had significantly fewer busts.

Some really good you tube coaching links posted on Beard from his time at Miami in his FF thread.

The undersell of Blackburn being the guy by some is annoying. He worked in UT's AD for 20 years before going to UTC. He was the #2 guy (Senior Associate AD) for 5 years before he left along with asst. AD over funding previous to that. He ran football operations under Fulmer going back to 1993. He worked under Majors a couple of years. His experience cannot be duplicated by any outsider because he has direct experience in the system.

Some message to grads of UT. You can go to school here and/or work here and even be successful; but you will never get the top job in your line of work even if you prove yourself here or somewhere else because you can't be as good as somebody that's never worked here.

So, is most of today's AD heartburn coming from Hubbs and Hyams during Hubbs' Thursday spot and Basilio's usual song and dance?

I get it, but I just think people latching on to sources at this point is insane.

It's been an absolute desert as far as good info getting out. Most guys are just speculating on speculation (which is apparently journalism now). Hyams is oddly going single source on the whole thing.
