If #12 the starter Butch will be packing his office up week 6.

Why? Because Worley wasn't successful? This is an entirely different OL and Dormady is much more mobile than Worley. He is nowhere near Josh Dobbs level of mobile but he can move when he needs to. There is no reason to believe he can't be successful.

I don't. Dormady would make throws downfield. With the box less crowded, he would find a handful of running opportunities per game. He's not Dobbs, but neither is he Worley. OL should be shaping up nicely as well. In limited snaps he looked very comfortable driving the bus.

There's nothing really to indicate he would make those throws downfield. Everyone points to the one TD pass against WCU, which was a great throw, but I'm not ready to make the declaration that that facet will be a given if he is a QB.

There is no reason to claim he can't make the throws either. How about we let the QB competition play out and see what the results give us? Then we can all set our underpants on fire and run into traffic.

The only fair thing to say is the production would be a complete unknown until we see it on the field. Exact same thing has to be said about JG.

There is a bit more film on Dormady at this point, and I haven't personally seen anything I dislike about it.

Seems to be an excessive amount of hate for Dormady around here. Not sure why.

HATE???? Simply pointing out that Dormady fits a pro-style and JG fits the current read option we run is hate? SMH... are you in your safe place? We have seen what a mobile QB can do and how it can add another dimension to our offense.... we will not have as many weapons next season and will definitely need every advantage we can get. A QB that cannot run will most likely not perform as well in the offense we run compared to one that is highly mobile....

You need some medication, buddy.

I had never really considered that the hit Hurd took at UGA would have zapped his passion and desire to play football, but I suppose it's possible.

And, if you consider that the hit had any kind of long-term effect on him as a football player (whether that effect would cause him to quit altogether or not), it makes it less likely to me that he'd be interested in playing TE, where you're much more prone to take hits like the one that got laid on him in Athens.

I assume the "rationalization" thing is people being OK with not hiring Helfrich?

I'm not sure what people are supposed to do if he was the one that cooled on the job primarily to sit out a year and count his buyout money until Chip gets a new gig (especially if UT was reasonable in their offers and it sounds as if they were).

I'm in the whoever wins group. If Dormady wins great. If guarantano wins great. But don't assume we're going to have a bad year just because the QB you back doesn't start

Underpants aren't on fire. Just posting my thoughts on it. Sorry to set yours ablaze.

Of course all this is speculation. That's all any of us can do. It's not like I'm going to run out on the practice field waving my arms in the air and screaming like a madman to influence the competition. Didn't realize the topic was taboo.

It's an attempt to make it seem like the groaners are the ones who really care about UT Football/winning and the rest of us are just hoping to draw walks in the batters box of life.

Why? Just because he isn't Dobbs? We all assume the JG is going to be the next greatest thing, and maybe he will, but Dormady has shown great ability to push the ball down the field. If he is able to get more reps with the 1's then he will be more comfortable. Plus if the OL takes the next step in their development then they will be able to provide more protection on pass plays. All this will force the opposing D's to respect the down field game more and open up the run game for Kelly, CFA, Chandler, and Coleman.

Could we be 6-6? Sure. We could also be 8-4 or 10-2. Just have to wait and see.

I just think we have a hard time next year if we revert to a pro style type offense. This offense is night and Day with a mobile QB. Yes, Dormady is light years better than Worley, but I'm just not sure that a pro style QB can thrive in this offense

He didn't really complete most of my list though. In YEAR 4(!) we lost to Vanderbilt, South Carolina, had starters in the game and sweated it out against App State and OHIO(!). We did break the streak against Florida but still have a miserable one going against Bama.

He probably deserves another year. But I dont think it's that crazy to think we could have hired a good HC this offseason. If we had a new AD in place awhile back this may have happened. Who knows. That's just my opinion and I don't need anybody to agree with it.

He's built a solid foundation. I'm not trying to downplay what he's done here. I just think this was probably the year to make the change and still hit the ground running if we were going to ever do it. If we make it a year or two down the road, then most of our 2015 class full of stars are mostly gone and we're likely looking at another rebuild. I just don't think we will attract as good of a coach at that point.

But who knows. None of this matters.

1. Beat Kentucky and Vandy every year.
- 50% completion
2. Best Mizzou and Scar most of the time.
- 50% completion
3. Destroy cupcakes to insert backups.
- Failure
4. Don't have losing streaks to main rivals.
- Winning streak versus UGA, ended UF streak, and you even admitted knocking Savannah off his log is a long shot. I thusly consider this a completion.
5. Contend for East and stay in top 25.
- We contended for the East-- though we should have won--and stayed inside the top 25. I consider that a completion:

So one outright failure amongst your five stipulations equals firing??

I think that Kelly proved we don't need a mobile QB for this offense to be good

I think Dormady starts the first game. JG will come in around game 4 or 5, if he starts faltering. Earliest I see JG starting a game is game 3 or 4. UMass looks like a great game for him to get a first start. Florida down there, not so much.

Heard Joey Kent on the radio the other day discussing this. He didn't seem to favor either one, seemed very impressed by both. He actually kept stating that Dormady's athleticism keeps getting downplayed, but that he can move around much better than people give him credit for. My personal opinion is still Guarantano will take the job, but it will definitely be a battle. Great problem to have.

Need y'all that can foretell the future to give me lottery numbers. Dormandy could come out and end up great. Who knows.... how about we give the kid a chance instead of labeling him a loser???

If he struggles, then so be it but let's give him a shot.

QD isn't mobile at all. That said, I think he could be effective airing it out if given time.

No. I've never made any connection between people's opinions on here and their life or who they are as a person. That is for the mega sunshine pumpers.
