Hope you're right but until it's a FACT it's an OPINION. Stating it as such doesn't hurry the process. :hi:

This is You EVERYTIME! You always got something to say back don't you butchna. This is what drives me crazy about you.

No matter what thread or topic you & mostly you always has something to counter/say no matter what! Would drive a mental person into insanity! :eek:hmy: :)

Then go easy lil champion. I haven't ventured an opinion on the question of respective elite status for Malone and/or Preston. That's what it would be...an opinion. I'd counter your OPINION that Malone doesn't have elite potential and that PW had already PROVEN said status. You were teetering on Byrd but you stopped short of DECLARING his eliteness (barely :)). One of the brain kryptonites on this board for me is "hit the brakes" on individual FAN opinions. Wild enthusiasm is fun...until you leave an opening for argument. Waiting for our guys to PLAY elite before they BE elite isn't "countering" for the fun of it. Just part of fan discussion. Don't get all persecuted. :wink2:

But what if they are highly touted and fit the system?

Out Saftey battle will be something fierce. Gaulden/TK/Warrior/Abernathy/Berry. shoop going to need to get creative to get all those guys on field.

It's all good buddy. The bold above. I agree with you on the first part in bold. Preston Williams was in elite status when he came here as a freshman but injuries held him back last season. Malone's had the chance to show/be elite status but he's not.

I don't think Malone has elite athletic ability. Preston Williams does. I don't know of the two which is faster. Probably pretty even but no doubt Preston is elite & Josh is not.

As for the other part if bold about Tyler Byrd. He is a 4* recruit. He has elite athletic ability but you can't say he's an elite player yet. Yes, I put the brakes on him for right now before calling him elite. Have you watched any of this kids video butchna? I've watched at least 15 different videos of this kid.

Some were 5+ minutes. He has the ability to take a kick/punt return to the house every single time he touches the ball like we have now in the return game with Evan Berry & Cam Sutton. He's that darn good. I can't believe he's not a 5* recruit if you ask me. He will pass Jennings at WR on the depth chart by midseason or before.

He's too good & he's a better WR than Jennings. In my honest opinion Jennings should be playing on the other side of the ball at safety lowering the boom on offensive players but I'm not as qualified as coach Jones & staff to determine his best position.

First play from scrimmage on Defense against Appy State.

Shoop calls for the "Speed Rush" (AKA "The Swarm")

DL is...Barnett, Kongbo, Phillips and Vereen
LB is...Reeves-Maybin, Kirkland
DB is...Gaulden,TK,Warrior,Abernathy,Berry

Yes? No? Tweaks to it?

From what I've read, Appy is a run heavy team. I assume we'll use some beef up the middle to make sure we don't get gashed. I say we keep it basic and unleash the fun stuff later.

I don't think you have the starters right buddy. Especially in the secondary.

What aspects of Malone's game are elite?

Not disagreeing, just haven't seen any elite characteristics as of yet.

Maybe he's like the guy we had from Oklahoma, I believe, that came in highly touted and struggled the first two years and then came into his own his junior year. Had a breakout game against Cal, first game of the year in Neyland.

Can't recall his name, but Malone seems like a similar situation. Malone could still live up to expectations!!

Jancek be like, just rush 3, and sit back in coverage and wait for them to come to you.

Sooooooo glad Shoop is the new DC.

Regarding our receivers, as a whole they have a similar YPR to just about any team; between 10-15. The difference is we either are constantly rotating receivers so they don't get in any sort of groove, or Dobbs just really likes to spread the ball around, evidenced by 10 100+ yrd receivers and no receiver with more than 40 catches.

Once it is factored that our 2 RBs caught a combined 56 balls for less than 500 yards, throwing less to the RBs and focusing on some of our hot handed guys (Josh Smith, Ethan Wolf, Malone/PW) may turn out to be fruitful. Then we may see who shines with the increased receiving load.

I would also like to see Dobbs choose his carries a little better. ~150 carries in a season is a big toll to take, and if he chooses the right keeps he may see that ypc jump to around 8.

Thoughts?

I don't think you're too far off with the starters? :)

1. One play on defense.
2. First play on D of the game against a team we will easily beat.
3. Fastest guys within their position groups on the field for one explosive blitz.

Is this the group? Are there better speed options?

Having 4 DE's on your DL is also not your starting line-up. It's got nothing to do with reality.

It's a game.

Edit: Go read your Rival's Recruiting rankings and leave me alone. :p :eek:lol:

You got it backwards! I don't go with Rivals. I go with 247 Sports composite instead. :p
