Of course Hart is up there talking about the great culture at UT. Why even say that? It's only going to be used against him and the university. It looks like hot air to anyone in the media and anyone who isn't a UT fan.

I guess just bending over would have been the better way to go? If he's not going to defend the culture, which is what's under attack, then why bother speaking?

One man's assault is another man's scuffle. I expect there were words exchanged and probably punches were thrown. I expect there was a fight. Is the loser of a fight always the one that was assaulted?

The instigator or one that throws the first punch is the guilty party the other is defending themselves

I have a different definition of assault than you do. What if Boles got in his face, what if he was bumping him? It was a fight, fights happen. It wasn't an assault imo. Was CM wrong if he instigated the fight? Sure. Does it rise to the level of a assault? No. That's probably why no charges were ever filed.

It just rings hollow to anyone not associated with UT. I get why he has to do it, though.

I'm just ready for this thing to start moving towards a trial and for this to be the last time anyone associated with UT comments publicly, but I'm sure the Tennessean and the attorneys involved have several more bombshells that they are waiting to drop to keep this in the news for weeks/months.

I've posted this 2-3 times since these allegations came about over a year ago & it was mostly ignored. I will say it again. Maggitt did confront Bowles & punch him in the face. This 100% happened. You all can argue about the definition of assault or attack & rape culture all you want, but Maggitt beating the hell out of Bowles absolutely happened. This is fact.

The report says 56 initiated the confrontation with accusatory questions. What happened after that we don't know but if 56 did admit to assault I can't see him doing that unless he threw the first punch. He wouldn't admit to assaulting a person if it was done is self defense.

Not sure I follow what you are saying about what an assault is. Surely you aren't saying it's not assault to take a verbal argument into a physical one.

One punch and "beating the hell out of" are entirely different. Not to nitpick. :hi:

Flowd

Any insight into what was done by CBj did in disciplining 56 for this?

This thing is being tried in the media. The lawyers are strategically leaking these things over time to get maximum shock value. The min things die down, boom they leak something else. They're eventually going to run out of stuff to leak and this will die down. It's unfortunate that the plaintiffs can say anything they want with no risk of being called out. The lazy media reports it as fact with nothing to back it up. I the meantime the accused has to keep their mouths shut.

Bruin would gladly see the Vols football program go up in flames if it meant he earned a day's worth of e-cred on VolNation.

If the lawsuit and the stuff being leaked is proven to be bogus, are there any kind of repercussions for the lawyer? Or is he protected from any kind of countersuit? Tort lawyers frustrate me so badly.

Defamation is protected in litigation. The attorneys aren't witnesses, so they are filing pleadings based on what other people tell them.

I'm saying you're blowing it way put of proportion. Just like TS said, fights on a football occur. It's the nature of the beast. Someone always has to throw the first punch. Does the reason for the fight make it rise to assault in your opinion or should we have all these altercations result in criminal prosecution?

I don't know why players getting into a fight is a big deal. It always happens on every team. They are truly taking this to the next level. Lol

100% agree it shouldn't matter

What happens in the lockerroom should stay in the lockerroom but unfortunately this case is different and the politically correct bs world we live in is the problem with this specific part of this
