The statement from UT basically said:

"We will continue to defend ourselves from these nimrods who keep changing their story. We will not back down from their bullying."

All depends on what was known. I agree if they knew there was 2 different altercations they would have asked about both

Any lawyer worth his weight in salt would have answered an open question. Like:

"Mr. Boles, were you ever assaulted or threatened for your actions in assisting the alleged victim?"

James Franklin "allegedly" told players to destroy evidence in their investigation. Absolutely nothing reported. (Players did destroy evidence and still claim he instructed them)

Butch "allegedly" calls a player a traitor and it's the biggest story in sports.

Has anyone ever watched one of these trials on TV like 20/20 or 48 hours? Have you ever watched the prosecution put on their case and thought there's no way this guy isn't guilty? And then the defense gets their turn and you say to yourself "wtf?"?

Yes, the murmurs we heard about Jancek bringing his side piece around the complex... I remember those but never really considered it could be part of this. Good lawd make it stop!

We don't know what Bowles said in court. We know what he told the KNS he said in court.

It's not really relevant. The fact that the GJ didn't indict Maggit indicates that it didn't come up or he testified that it didn't happen.

Either way, it's secret and not recorded. He's not facing perjury charges.

However, UTs attorneys can impeach him on the stand.

I once had a naughty thought when I was on campus. Maybe they should include that too.

I think this is what UT is hoping for, and the more rational side of me thinks you are correct. My paranoid, battered vol syndrome makes me think that this whole thing may reach a tipping point, and the PC outrage crowd backed my the media will show up with pitchforks until they are given their pound of flesh.

If they get their pound of flesh, it will be someone in the administration. Unless evidence comes out in court that can actually prove all of this, that is. Which is unlikely.

Ole Miss is loving this right now. All these alleged assaults and accusations against Tennessee is taking all the attention away from there investigation

The fact that Coach Jancek was fired for infidelity and inappropriate behavior is proof that UT supports and encourages sexual assault. End of story. Shut down the entire state and divide it amongst its neighbors!

Is it within the power of a grand jury to indict for a crime that is discovered during testimony dealing with a completely different case?

Tennessee doing anything is a much bigger story than Vanderbilt doing anything. No one cares about anything that they do.

We coulda been a contendah...smh. If Butch goes down, we'll enter a dark age that makes the Fooley years look like the halcyon days. No high quality coach in their right mind would touch this job. We would be the Chernobyl of college football.

Solid, reasonable post. Good thing no one is catastrophising in here.

Here's the tweet
