I still think this will all blow over. UT is going to dig in and fight this out in court. That will have to wait on some other ongoing cases to finish first.

This offseason will be rough for us, no doubt. But by the time all of this is settled in court it will be old news, a different college will have a scandal and be the center of attention, and we might even have a largely different coaching staff and athletic department for completely unrelated reasons.

The Butch stuff can't be proven one way or another. It's a he said/she said issue. There won't be any evidence for it beyond the testimony of someone who has already lied under oath at least once.

My guess is we endure more of this over the offseason, with it eventually becoming old news by the summer and the start of camp. Once the season starts and the Vols start winning games, it's mostly forgotten or people get tired of it all being rehashed while its played out in court.

UT probably reaches some sort of settlement around 2018-2019 and by then the entire roster and half or more of the coaching staff has likely been flipped.

Good grief! Just when things were calming down a little- but Butch potentially getting fired for that? I don't see that. It would be interesting the context he said it and he did call back to apologize. He said what we probably all were thinking if we didn't say it out loud. In a moment of heated stress and tension under the circumstances too. If that's the worst he did/said yeah it looks really bad in this ultra PC culture but I don't see how he could lose his job for it at least I hope not!!!! Make it stop! Settle the dang thing.

I agree, I doubt it will affect the product on the field. But it may affect the message. Jimbo was so ingrained into that culture it didn't matter. Butch is still building a rep that was starting to mend from his early season miscues.

One thing to consider is Vq is always going to be a mouth piece for the university.

Their reports on the testimony certainly could be at the request of the university

I hope the players remember all this BS, play angry and bulldoze their way to the SEC Championship and into the playoffs. Then the media would be loving CBJ and begging for access and the SECN and Finebum would suddenly be the biggest bandwaggoners around.

If FSU can survive the Winston ordeal, UT will survive this. This will die down like every other public case (civil, criminal, international) in due time or when another school has allegedly done something wrong. In the meantime, people will throw gum at the wall and hope it sticks with the purposes of piling on so they can get clicks, retweets, money, 10 sec of notoriety.

Is that the actual transcript? Or more Bruin hypothetical prose? Gotta ask that question because I don't think they utilize "such and such date" in said transcripts. Are you saying they didn't even ask him about the other incident? Further questions because I'm nowhere near the fake authority you are on EVERY SUBJECT. lol lol lol lmfao lol giggles guffaws

I mean they could have asked the prosecutor or Bowles or the grand jurors.

I would assume if Maggit didn't get indicted then it wasn't testified to, but that doesn't mean Bowles denied it.

Maybe VQ made same assumption.

Who knows. I saw this whole disaster coming a year ago when all these assaults were happening. It should have been a PR nightmare then.

Do you have any sense for how irresponsible it is to imagine scenarios, assume their truth and hand out advice about what should be done in reality based on your fantasies?

I get that is standard operating procedure on these kinds of message boards but surely you understand this kind of situation is easily inflamed by irresponsible speculation.

How about let's forego the excitement of goosing the drama and sticking to facts?

At that point VN thought it was some sort of proof Aj was innocent and glamorized it. Now we want to play the other side. Would be Comical if so much wasn't at stake here

I remember Eazy bringing info about all of this Drae stuff when it happened- would be nice for him to give us his opinion of the circumstances now. Butch is getting crucified in the media now and they don't even know the context of his and Draes conversation and what info he had at the time to say that. And he did apologize/ we all say things we later regret. Why should a man be fired for that?! Did UT put out a statement as someone mentioned? I hope Dave Hart comes out in 100 percent support of Butch and the team is stronger than ever going into this season. Worse things probably are said to players in private every day they just aren't aired in the media.
