If they can't hire a top GM that would attract top HC talent, why bother trying to get a top HC? Just roll with Mularkey for a couple of years while you rebuild. Not going to smell the playoffs for a couple of years anyway.

What is worse is they appear to be setting up the GM and Head Coach to report seperately. Imagine being a GM with a mediocre coach and reporting to the ownership that hired him. Dumb.
