I can't can't remember the game, but one of throws that impressed me was when he was near the left hash and threw a dart about 12-15 yards upfield on the right sideline with a defender near. It wasn't a huge play, but the ball got there quickly with little arc. He's got the arm strength for the NFL but needs to greatly increase his accuracy.

I would argue half the QBs who played on wild card weekend can't make that throw.

Bold prediction:

Kamara returns. He and Hurd split carries more evenly. Hurd has another good season, with numbers similar to this year. Next year’s NFL RB class is super deep and Hurd decides to stay for his senior year and subsequently breaks every UT rushing record in the books along with winning the Heisman.

Making a roster and getting drafted are two totally different things. Don't get me wrong, I hope Dobbs does well enough to get drafted, but I'm fully expecting him to be a UFA.

I'm talking about the NFL as a whole, not just the wildcard round. There are plenty of QBs whose seasons have ended.

Look, I'm a huge Dobbs fan. I hope he has all the success in the world. But his arm strength isn't elite or something that will wow scouts. They see plenty of guys with arm strength like his every year. Only every couple years do they get to see guys with elite arm strength come through the draft. Right now there are probably only 2-3 guys in the NFL with truly elite arm strengthーStafford, Cutler, and maybe Flacco. Jamarcus Russel had one of the strongest arms ever. Brett Favre could throw darts until the day he retired.

Dobbs doesn't have one of those arms that just makes you stop and say "damn." It doesn't mean he has a weak arm or anything, but you'll find plenty of guys with arms just as strong in the NFL. Some teams have backups with arms as strong or stronger (not that it makes them good QBs necessarily, but Bray and Mettenberger both have arms strong enough for that throw). Hell, I can think of a division that has 4 starting QBs that have all made throws as impressive or more so in their careers thus far (the NFC South).

So if Dobbs is this big NFL QB talent, don't you think he'd be getting more talk about potentially leaving early, or at the very least seeking an evaluation this year? I've yet to see anyone question whether or not he should go pro now or anything about a draft score, and that tells the whole story.

Again, I hope he blows us all away. Just being realistic here that I don't expect a huge jump in passing ability.

I think Dobbs has underrated arm strength. I also think it's ironic that his greatest strength (running/elusiveness) is related to his greatest weakness (footwork). Footwork issues lead to those crazy moments where he's way off the mark. His other issue at times is that he "holds down the A button"'as I like to put it and doesn't show touch when needed, mostly on flag or corner routes.

But I think an issue he has, and one I think he addresses this year, is that he thinks too much at times. Weird right? Lol. But check it out, he is super comfortable running the ball, and when he tucks and runs, he is incredibly elusive and almost looks slower than he is as he glides along. On the other hand, watch him in the pocket, he's extremely robotic, and I feel like he's tense at times because of it. If that's the case and he addresses it, sky's the limit (get it) including a productive QB at the next level if he wants.

overall UT has a ton of potential but we did not have any production equivalents on the DL outside of Barnett. Our LB's did but that means our line was eating space more than shedding blocks. I have a hard time believing a stronger Tuttle and Khalil under Shoops won't flourish.

Probably the only thing remotely possible would be to ignore posts that contain certain words. Do you really want to ignore a post that contains the word "Dobbs"?
