I just don't understand why you came in with the wet blanket. Nobody said signature win, everybody is just excited about where the program is. I didn't understand it because I've never seen you as a particularly negative poster.

I'm not being negative. If anything, it's the opposite.

I think we are past a win like this being considered a signature win. And yes, there was discussion on it.

All I said was their offense was terrible. It was an off hand remark based on the fact that it was terrible. Not trying to be negative at all.

GBO

Gotcha. It just came off that way to me. I apologize for reading too much into it.

I dnt think it was a "signature" win but i do think it was a big win from a momentum and perception standpoint.

Aim higher.

No I think that is a realistic step for us that would thrill me. We still don't pass block worth a crap, our QB is not a very good passer and we don't have a senior class with a lot of talent. We don't have enough upperclassmen depth/talent at OL and DL.

The coaching staff really botched that OU game and we handed UF a win. But this team finished strong and honestly after that Arkansas loss I think it's a borderline miracle that we finished 9-4.

Want some help with the ruling on the ball going out of bounds. Discussed this briefly in the game thread on Dobbs incredible run

Why when a kid steps out of bounds around the 1st down maker does the replay booth look at where the ball broke the out of bounds plane but not when a kid is tight roping the sidelines?

Is the out of bounds plane only looked at when the feet actually step out of bounds?

Yes 9-4 is a borderline miracle

I don't see Anything wrong with saying next year we should expect a realistic shot at the playoff. However if we lose 2 regular season games and fall short it will certainly be another step forward like you say.

Can't we have it both ways next year?

DE will have Barnett, Vereen, and Lewis. That is three good to elite upperclassmen DE's. Plus a few very talented underclassmen.

Foot has to be out of bounds. There is no plane that extends to the heavens like the goal line.

It is a good question.

To clear it up.

When a runner steps out they then look at where the ball is in relation to the sideline.

If the runners feet remain inbounds and the ball is carried over the sideline it it is still in play and not out of bounds.

Once the runner goes out of bounds at any point the ball is then dead at its forward most progress.

In the Dobbs run the ball was carried in his right arm and over the sideline but since his feet remained inbounds he was able to switch the ball to his left and break the plane of the goal line. When he finally touched out the ball had already broken the plane.

I think we SHOULD only lose 1 or 2 games or none at all next year but I certainly wouldn't be calling for Butch's head if we go 9-3

The 2016 run started today, like Gruden stated. Dobbs goes under center. Playcalling is aggressive with a lead. Jones lets the 2nd string play. Hope Shy Tuttle is healing up. The gloves are off.

It's the last place the ball was on the playing field before the player established himself as out of bounds.

Dobbs wasn't established as out of bounds until after the football broke the plane of the goal line.

The ball can travel forward if it's on the plane of the field and the player isn't established as out of bounds.
