The people who choose to go to college CHOSE TO GO TO COLLEGE on their own already knowing that it costs to go to college and that there are things you will have to do or give up in order to achieve said goal of graduating with a degree. Nobody forced them to go therefore college is not a free education. Nor should it ever be. A ton of people in this country never think things through and try to understand the importance of "if I do this, what will be required for that to happen?". Welcome to society where you work to get money so you can buy what you need/want including going to school.

My apologies. Rant over. MODs if this needs to be moved then I understand.

Going to be leaving at 7am from Roanoke. 4 hour drive. Parking downtown is easy and is a short walk to the stadium. Should get to my seats with about 20 minutes to spare. Nooners suck -- early morning and no tailgating.

Anything going on in Knoxville Saturday night that the gf and I might want to check out?

Sounds like you're not doing it right. Breakfast tailgate. Mimosas and Irish coffee. Nothing better than getting hammered while eating bacon freshly cooked in a parking lot.

I know this is understood but it hasn't been directly mentioned in the last 150 posts or something that I just read. When we beat North Texas this weekend, we will be going bowling. Last year at around this time we were 4-5 needing to beat 2/3 of SEC East leaders Missouri, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt. This year we have to beat 1/3 of North Texas, and SEC East bottom feeders Missouri and Vanderbilt.

We are still growing as a team, and we probably should have more wins, but this season to me is very acceptable. Back to back bowls for the first time in how long? A lot of players showed us they were or weren't capable so we will have a better feel who to play next year. A lot of true freshmen and young players who will play a lot moving forward got a lot of reps. Now we need to win out and blow out a P5 team in a bowl game like last year and finish this recruiting class strong. Also finish in the top 25. Next year we have to figure out how to cut down injuries in practice. We have to.

This is painful. Not because of the floundering, but because of the ignorance. Tuition, housing, food... these things are not free for these universities to provide. Why should they be free for you? I wish more people would make an honest attempt at reasonable research before spouting ridiculous demands and opinions.

At worst, it prevents one from looking like an ass. At best, I think it would solve a lot of our problems before they ever actually become problems.

It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

If only people would adhere to this more often.

Missing my first home game since Auburn 2013 tomorrow due to a funeral. Hope the team can pull it off without me :crossfingers:

I could watch this all day

This is a wonderful idea...I can't believe none of us thought of it.

But, what about food, booze and some vouchers for concerts and other activities. What if they commute...they need a car. And gas, too. Oh, insurance as well.

The booze idea might be too much...we'll have to limit it to beer and maybe wine.

Oh, and I don't know how I'm going to pay for this either. But that apparently isn't a very big issue.

To make all this even better, I was on a cruise this summer and Neil Cavuto was on the ship as well. So, when he interviews me, I'm sure he'll be far more sensitive and accepting of my pearls of wisdom.

It sure sounds like Irsay wants Saban, and the only real question is whether Saban wants to coach the Colts. Saban has already won three national championships at Alabama and his team is currently No. 2 in the country. That could mean he has a good thing going and wouldn’t want to leave, but it could also mean that he’s accomplished everything he wants to accomplish in college and wants to take on a new challenge in the NFL. Saban’s previous tenure in Miami didn’t go well, but Saban has hinted that if he had full control of a roster and a franchise quarterback, he’d like to coach in the NFL again. Irsay may give Saban what he wants, and Saban may head to Indianapolis in two months.

My recollection is Saban did have personnel control while at Miami. And it was his genius decision to sign Dante Culpepper instead of Drew Brees.

Personnel decisions in the NFL are a far cry from college ball and this is where he failed miserably with the Dolphins.

This is pretty fun. Titans are part of it next week. Looked like the titans uniforms are much better

As a Volunteer Colt, this is a dilemma.

Couple things: Culpepper was two seasons removed from an incredible top-3 QB season and Saban traded for him. Not signed.

My memory might be failing me...should rephrase that to probably...but I don't recall his draft or free agency signings at Miami to be anything to write home about.

It's a lot easier to sign 20-25 of the best high schoolers each year compared to about a half dozen draft picks and you have to wait your turn to even do that.

I feel for ya Chavis...Saban may think he's learned from his Miami experience, but the above paragraph outlines his challenge. It's already been demonstrated he's not a lock to succeed in the NFL.
