We've recruited pro style receivers for a spread offense.

How would that happen? Butch has been running this offense forever. He knows exactly what type of player he needs at every position, he can just get better versions of them at Tennessee.

I know ya'll are excited about CFA and I'm one of his biggest fans.

Don't sleep on Kelly, he's a stud

I've liked what limited action I've seen from Kelly as well. Seems like he thinks to get up field quick instead of dancing, and looks a lot more punishing than I thought he would be.

It's really annoying how these teams gets to play pathetic schedules while SEC and Pac 12 just beat each other up.

I read someone here the other day refer to the SEC schedules as "cannibalism" and that's the best way to describe it.

One of the best things to come out of the playoff system that has been adopted is the committee that is responsible for ranking the potential playoff teams. It's not perfect, but they're at least looking at things beyond win-loss records. Strength of schedules and injuries are obviously of great importance when one attempts to rank teams before the season is completed and the playoffs begin.

Take Baylor's situation...they're playing extremely well but now that they've lost their starting QB for the year, it could very easily change things...and although we can argue to what degree this injury will be considered, at least it's being included in the debate.

There was more than just the bowl game but it was a factor. That program was in disarray and I am sure had to make some serious selfevaluation and changes. That off season had some red ass in it and it's paying off now IMO

Iowa drastically changed their offense after the bowl game last year from what I have read.

I see your point about losing the bowl game. I am hoping for a bowl win but if we were to lose I hope they do use it as motivation for the next year. The way Butch's philosophy is though I am not convinced this team would do that.

Fair enough but that confidence didn't translate early for us this year.

Lol confidence had nothing to do with our losses.

Our losses are a product of stupid mistakes and sheer damn bad luck. I realize that you love trying to create interesting talking points, but this point has transgressed into the realm of absurdity.

Yeah that's crazy talk. Miami is a better job for a coach than South Carolina. Who cares about resources and fan base. Miami has a ridiculous recruiting base

No question about the talent here in South Florida. However, the environment in college football has changed over the course of the past decade or so with the outstanding facilities and support systems teams like UT have built. Miami is still living in the '90s and the rest of college football's elite have left them in the dust.

When you consider this along with playing in a stadium 45 minutes from campus and their embarrassing fan base, I don't think the Miami situation is that attractive. Yes, they should always be in the top 25 by simply rolling out of bed each morning. But, they have to make some really big changes and commitments to regain their spot as a true National Championship contender.

South Carolina has a much better fanbase, probably better resources, better atmosphere, and they're in the SEC. the only advantage Miami has is recruiting and that doesn't make it a more attractive job

USCe being in the sec makes it less attractive IMO.

To much competition.

Fisher at florida state has unreal job security while CMR doest at Georgia. Easier to achieve success that assures a high paying job for am entire career outside of the SEC

Bruin gonna Bruin.

As bad as the turnout is for Miami games often is (the stadium which is a good 45 minutes at least from campus mind you), saying the atmosphere is better in Columbia, SC than Coral Gables/Miami is comical. They also don't have better resources.

All they have is that they are in the SEC and they have a nice fanbase. Miami's fanbase is solid when the team isn't taking dumps on the field every week. It's just a very fickle and spoiled fanbase. They aren't going to show out for a bad product. I get that people will call that a bad fanbase, and maybe it is, but Miami ain't Columbia, SC. People have other options in how to spend their Saturday.

You also have the fact that you can roll out of bed and have a laundry list of stud recruits and legacy players already ready to sign with you as long as you don't get in the way.

Which job is better? Depends on the candidate. Miami is a much tougher job, but the ceiling is far higher than at USCjr.

We would beat Iowa by 4 tds

After watching that UNC/Pitt game last night, I'm fairly certain we'd be ranked in the top 5-10 and undefeated right now if we played in the ACC. That conference is shockingly bad this year. That UNC team is terrible and they are 7-1.
