It absolutely will not be a rebuild if we get rid of butch. We Have talent . The cupboard is not bare. Not even close

We can get a big time coach right now. That's why I want him gone ASAP. Dump money at a top guy a be done. This is supposed to be a 5-0 team. That defense is loaded. Tuttle is a monster. Kirkland will be a monster. Martin needs to be playing he's a legit athlete. These young guys on defense will be nasty will a DC that knows how to play BASE press defense. We could've ran press with a Robber and destroyed Arky's passing game. Jancek is flat out STUPID too!

What are his combined touches against OU, UF, and
Arky?

Low

I have no idea. I do know he's run back every other punt he's returned. I mean how hard is this thing to figure out. We've got the best STs return units in the country(best thing that doofus coaches). Berry and Kamara are absolutely weapons.

"We have been aware of a particularly heated practice near the end of the training camp portion of the vols' preseason camp. It is the night that Butch made the players restart practice at the indoor facility after leaving Neyland Stadium. Folks have said that Butch was the most intense and worked up that they have ever seen him at Tennessee but that there was no sort of physical altercation other than grabbing players' jerseys during the course of normal drill work and scrimmage settings. Spoken with four different people in the program in the last 48-72 hours and they all say the notion of Butch striking a player is "absolutely false". We heard about the practice literally by the next morning and no one had ever said that Butch struck anyone but that he was in the players' faces. It sounded to us like a relatively typical type of scene that isn't necessarily uncommon towards the end of an intense training camp."

-Brice

Normally, I wouldnt copy such a large chunk, but I think it is worth reading in this case.

This is actually believable. Not the **** the fan boys of crowder have been throwing around AFTER we lose three and the wheels are falling off.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this story is either false or really overblown (because that would be our luck in a nut shell). However, Brice and his lot are basically mouthpieces for the coaches. I want to hear some real journalists do some fact checking with someone besides the staff and then get a confirmation.

Not putting much stock into anything VQ says. They are in bed with this administration and coaching staff. They are 100% removed from being objective reporters.

I also think that no local reporters will touch the story either. No one wants to be known as the media outlet that broke a story that got a head coach fired. The new coaching staff would be wary of you from the get go.

If anyone breaks the story, it will have to be a national writer, IMO.

LOL in one of the threads somebody was saying that if this were all true, then the smart thing for Hart to do would be to Blackmail Butch into stepping down for a payment of 1 million dollars!

Because committing extortion is obviously the best move for our AD and hey why not lay the guy a million dollars while we're at it when we could just fire him for free!?

Gotta love the FF in full meltdown.

Well, its not really extortion. They AD could ask Butch to resign on his own or He will be fired and the reason will be given for his firing. That reason would hurt his chances of ever coaching again. Its a legit way of doing it.

I'm not saying the rumors are true or anything and I am not saying I want Butch fired, just saying if they were true it could be done that way.

I barely watched half of the game and was much happier for it. Played with my girls, gave them baths, got them ready for bed, spent some quality time with the wife, and missed the final 5 minutes of the game. Strange feeling but I'm better off without the stress.

I may continue to do so this season. I have no faith in this staff and, from the sound of things that may or may no have happened after the game, they don't deserve any.

Sad.

Football is taking a backseat for the time being. I have better things to do with my time than to watch a very talented SEC team be coached like a bargain bin NAIA team.

Love you guys but I'm taking a breather this season.

It would be extortion because a university doesn't have to comment on specifics if they fire a coach with cause. So the alternative of "let us violate your contract and short you pay you one million dollars or we'll go public" is ridiculous and would absolutely be extortion.

The paying him 1 million dollars thing is where the extortion comes in. That would be giving him money (that we wouldn't have to give him either way) in exchange for him being silent about his contract being violated.

Your priorities are in order my friend.

I hated what was done to Fulmer. I argued against it, even though most of the fanbase was for it.

After that... I don't care. These coaches get lots of money to win. When that starts happening, then they can have my loyalty.

I kept hoping that Butch would acknowledge his weaknesses and mitigate them intelligently since he is paid very well to do so. Apparently he is not capable. The Peter Principle has applied, again. This team should be 5-0 with momentum enough to punch UGA in the mouth in Neyland Saturday. Instead, it appears UGA will be coming for redemption by punching our guys in the mouth.

The defense has issues due to injuries and youth at Mike. So the coaches need to mitigate those weaknesses and play the most talented guys they have at each position - not the most experienced or the pets. It's the only way to get better. Then they have to use sound judgment with D play calls. They are not doing that.

The offensive scheme stinks and has since Day One. The offensive play calling stinks and has since Day One. The rotation of players at the skill positions stink and have since Day One. This is all on Butch, all day, every day. It's his program, his offense, his coaches, and mostly his players.

The coaching staff has some accomplished, good coaches and some real deadwood. We know who they are. Yet, Butch not only did nothing to amend it, he made it worse with Debord and by giving a promotion to Z. No real QB coach. A compliant OC that can help a poor O-line coach was another of his solutions. It started with him not retaining Chaney/Pittman who were largely responsible for a Top 20 offense scoring 35 points per game. It has gone downhill from there.

Over it all. Which is helping me redefine my personal priorities. UT football is now way down the list.

All that's left to do now is to just wait and see how long it takes to get rid of Butch. And sadly, I think we have 13 months to go.

We will probably luck into a bowl game by beating Kentucky, Vandy, South Carolina, and North Texas, although that's far from a guarantee. Then we will match up with another Iowa-like team and destroy them because of a huge talent discrepancy (a team with 10-2 SEC talent playing against a 6-6 or 7-5 Big 10 team).

Instead of a top 5 class we will get a top 15 class. No changes will be made in the staff except for the rising stars (Gillespie) moving on because they can see the writing on the wall.

We will go 7-5 in 2016 with top 10 talent and Dave Hart will fight tooth and nail to keep Butch despite an 0-12 record against UF, UGA, and Bama. Maybe he will get fired, maybe he won't, but any positive recruiting momentum will be gone and the program will die a slow death under him until Hart's hand is forced. Then we will have another 3-4 year rebuild on our hands.

It's hard to really be loyal when we have no memories of great wins to fall back on.

That South Carolina win in 2013 has been stretched pretty thin at this point.

What Tom Herman is doing at Houston is impressive...we'd most likely IMPROVE our recruiting and he was a key piece of Ohio State's championship. We have many pining for Patterson and ruing not hiring him...when TCU was a mid major. :wink2:

Lol... I agree he is proving he can recruit at Houston and Ohio States offense has looked miserable at times without him. I want a proven winner like everybody else but with our history and just how college football is now that may not happen. I know our roster is much more appealing now than it was in past coaching hires, but I mean USC had to settle for Sark and other big time programs swung and missed. So if we had to go with an up and coming guy Herman is my number from what I have seen and our system on offense would translate fairly well

Very possible scenario. As long as 90,000 buy tickets each game and there is a bowl game each season there will be no change as long as Hart is there. But if Butch has lost or is losing the team, it may take care of itself over the next month or so. Add in a change of AD can signal a change coming at HC. Finances are trending up if they have a winning program due to the SEC Network. You can afford to eat the buyout if you hire the big gun to fix it for good such that the don't lose the fan base. That's where they find themselves once again, losing the fan base.

Is it "loyalty" if it's so flighty? :dunno:

Agreed. Hart as an outsider has no vested interest in overseeing a program that wins football games. He wants a program that generates money.

I honestly think that Tennessee fans' loyalty is a big reason why we are where we are. The AD takes advantage of it. There's just not a pressing need to make a coaching change when you can still sell 90,000 tickets in the middle of a mediocre to terrible season. What's the point when you know the fanbase is easily sold on recruiting victories and promises of "next year?"

There won't be an offseason in recent memory as full of apathy as this one will be (assuming we win 6 or lower). At least in 2012 we were excited by the offense's potential and a new defense.

Agreed. The only way things can be salvaged is if Butch fires DeBord and hires a stud OC from a big-time program. Someone like Sonny Cumbie, who he should have hired in January anyway.

I honestly don't think it matters, though. Butch will handcuff whoever he hires because he's convinced his dink and dunk offense is infallible.
