Why are y'all freaking out over Debord? I had Never heard of CMB before he arrived at UT and yet here we sit with a potentially dynamic offense next year. I trust Butch on this one.

(Kippy Brown has NFL OC experience for the record) just throwing out another name
I wondered about Kippy. Amazing WR coach but he's up there in age I thought.

Would DeBord really be a bad hire though? He'd surely be an upgrade over Bajakian

He has got some age on him, as far as football goes, not actual age. He has not been an OC in 10 years and I doubt would have "new" concepts for our offense.

I could be wrong, the above is just my opinion.

Damn, VQ now reporting that DeBord could be in Knoxville as early as tonight for an interview.

"And to have some NFL background would be great as well."

That's like a bachelor saying that he wants his future wife to be beautiful, intelligent, funny, caring, passionate, loyal and amazingly sexy. And for her to have a very wealthy father and fat trust fund would be great as well.

Just thinking maybe a bit much is being made of the NFL experience comment.

Debord was the OC when Michigan won the title. He was a candidate for their HC job when they hired RR.

I'm not seeing a good reason for the animosity towards him

Rival fanbases (and yes, their opinions don't matter) would have a field day if we hired DeBord.

The guy is currently overseeing tennis and track and field at Michigan, FFS.

I really don't get what they see in this guy. He's pushing 60 and has been out of football for 2 years. The guy has been overseeing freaking field hockey and tennis teams at Michigan the past couple of years.

That title was 1997 the game has changed a lot since then and people weren't beating down his door for an oc job after Michigan let him go in the mid 2000s

5 lineman+TE+QB+3 backs = 1wr

Not by Dooley's math. If we hired Dooley as OC, we could run the 5 OL + TE + QB + 3 backs + 3 WR set. It would be masterful. Can you imagine Hurd, Kamara, Kelly, North, Pig, and Pearson all on the field at the same time?

On February 1, 2013, DeBord was hired by Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon to be the sports administrator for the school's Olympic sports teams. In this role he works with the field hockey, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's track and field, and men's and women's tennis programs.

We need someone who can coordinate the spread, zone read etc. offense that we have implemented. Surely to goodness CBJ will hire someone who has experience running his style of offense!
