He may just want to be a pro coach but the NFL salaries are higher so likely a lateral move pay wise I would think.

Or he might want a change of pace from recruiting high school kids. He's probably been reading the Richmond and Ford threads...they're enough to make anyone want to change their lives.

Half the board is mumbling under their breath...

"Please be Sam Pittman, Please be Sam Pittman, Please be Sam Pittman, Please be Sam Pittman..."

The question is whether Azzanni is ready to be an OC.

If he isn't, Butch will just have to take the risk of him leaving to CMU and take a small recruiting hit.

2015 is a big year, but it's not just about next year. Realistically, whoever Butch gets will need to be a fairly long-term hire. Someone he can count on through 2016 and 2017. Potential playoff years. Is Azzanni capable of that?

I think we're in position to land a big name. Can't pass that up if you get the opportunity, IMO.

Gotta pay a big name also. How much of a factor is that gonna be? A big name guy may want his guys on his staff also, would butch b OK with that. A lot of change may be coming depending on what happens with this hire

But Butch is an offensive guy himself. He's been a WR coach and an OC.

I'm not that worried.

Losing Jancek, on the other hand, would have been disastrous.

Funny you mentioned Jancek because when this news broke locally, the lady said " defensive coordinator Mike Bajakian such and such". My heart sank when she said Defensive coordinator. I was relieved when it wasn't Jancek.

Hahahaha that's hilarious because I was definitely thinking that.

But when I take my Sam fan glasses off, I want an experienced OC.

If this is CBJ's offense, I don't think we should worry TOO much. I'd imagine the OC's main job is to implement Butch's system. I guess?

Coach Jones has a few guys in mind I'm sure. He probably knew the possibility of this happening at some point too. The timing obviously isn't good, but I have to believe that Coach Jones is prepared.

Not sure what most NFL QB coaches make but I do know when Sean Payton was a QB coach he made over 1 mil a year. What is CMB making now?

Sean Payton is probably not a good one to look up lol. What's Jim Bob making? Like 350?

Question, maybe a dumb one - why is Azzanni considered a solid candidate to replace him? I understand the argument for continuity, but is there a reason why Azzanni specifically would be a good OC? Was he good in that role at WKU?

I really don't care who it is, big name or in house. I just want some stability. It seems most likely to me that regardless who the OC is the offense is going to have the same basic form. The only thing left to wonder about is in-game play calling, chemistry, and recruiting.
