Let me explain it to you Albert -- the results are similar because the players are similar. With only one of Butch's recruiting classes ( true freshmen ) on the field hard to wave a magic wand over say the OL and make them world beaters. Since we are playing with Dooley recruits - don't forget that there were years that Dooley didn't get around to recruiting O Linemen.

Thanks for explaining it to me Fullfillmer. We agree, the results are similar.

I would like Evan Berry to become a two way player. I think you got to find a way to maximize his touches. Him on the jet sweep with Dobbs and Hurd would be a nice wrinkle

I'd like to see this also. EB has got great speed and I would love to see him get some offensive touches.

I wouldn't wanna miss a holiday with the kids. But It is definitely very nice when you get a couple days of a break from them.

Mrs. Ron may have been excited too because she doesn't have to cook and clean up afterward. Ron still gets to eat turkey (sandwich). Everything works out well for both. Ron watches football all day Saturday with no one to bother him.

I was teasing. Btw, don't forget the men's basketball game at noon!

Told my wife Saturday morning that I can't eat while the Vols play. Sure enough, she fixes dinner and has it ready right at kickoff for the Missouri game. What'd I do?

Put it in the microwave and ate 30 minutes after the game ended.

Mike Sawyers returned to practice yesterday and was able to fully participate for the first time in several weeks. Hope he's gotten his act together.

Ate it and kept your mouth shut just like the rest of us married guys. And you cursed her repeatedly (under your breath of course) when she left the room.

Per game notes, Tennessee has faced the toughest schedule in the nation over the last two seasons according to NCAA SOS formula.

This is another reason why I believe people need to slow the roll on Butch. Dooley had to play Oregon once and then more reasonable games against Cincy and NC State OOC. After next year, we start our string of more reasonable neutral site games. Perception is different if we are 6-6 and 7-5 the last two years because the average fan doesn't pay attention to tough schedules. JMO.

I'm prepared to give Butch as many years as he wants as long he continues to show improvement and continues to recruit well.

Butch does such a great job of using momentum. It's not even just about the games right now. We're still in building mode. So to me, as long as we don't lose momentum and keep the train on the tracks (get to a bowl game, close out the recruiting class strong and either keep the staff together or upgrade) then I am feeling good. All the other stuff is just details and fun stuff to fill the time until the wins start pouring in consistently. We are watching these players and this program rebuild from the ground up before our eyes. That's been pretty fun to me after watching us slowly deteriorate instead the last decade or so.

At some point in the next few years we'll be able to look back and see that Tennessee is once again a stable program that wins up to it's capabilities every year. To me that is winning 8-11 games most years. That should be the average for Tennessee. I want some years to go beyond that and win more, but I understand that when Butch got here, we were not sitting at our average. We had fallen well below. We are inching our way up and everything points to us being able to reach that "average" mark in the next year or two at least.

But even if we had gotten there this year or last year it really wouldn't have done anything except for skew the expectations for the people that didn't understand the rebuilding process that had to take place.

I'm not going to get hung up on the details of the Missouri loss or play calling at this point.

Do you think Alabama fans are super pleased about their play calling every game? Do you think Mississippi State fans are right now? They're not.

Football isn't meant to be played perfectly. It's meant to be played with discipline and controlled intensity. You have to take risks. You have to be predictable. Sometimes you're predictable early in the game to set something up for later in the game. We don't always know or understand the play callers mind set or intentions. It's a chess game and you're trying to out maneuver and out think the guy on the other side. It kind of bothers me how many people let themselves get hung up on play calling. It's like getting mad because you flipped a coin and it didn't land on heads. You gave it a shot. Kudos to the guy that called tails.

Sometimes bad play calls go for touchdowns and sometimes good play calls get stuffed at the line of scrimmage. The play call nazi's on this board are wearing me out.

The things that make me angry when watching football games is penalties and unforced errors... Fumbles and careless turnovers. I look for our team to hustle and play hard and together. I want to see guys come off the bench and step up and play better than I expected. I want to see players improve as the year goes on. Especially in a young team like this. I'm seeing it this year. So yep. I'm full Butch.

Go big orange
