Guys what if we get Gruden but he turns out not to be any good? That would suck.

I'm clearly in the minority and pooping on the parade, but I actually have serious doubts about Gruden being a good fit. It would create a huge wave of excitement on the front end, but would he really be the best coach for UT 3, 5, 8 years down the road? I'm skeptical.

Hubbs is going to put out a more carefully worded post any minute now backtracking. Guarantee it.

Volnation:Hubbs I want to know absolutely everything that's happened up till now.

Hubbs: Well, let's see. First the earth cooled. And then the dinosaurs came, but they got too big and fat, so they all died and they turned into oil. And then the Arabs came and they bought Mercedes Benzes. And Prince Charles started wearing all of Lady Di's clothes. I couldn't believe it.

There's only one way to find out!

Gruden would be the figure head. His OC and DC will play a huge role towards whether or not he would succeed. He studies the game so much that I cannot fathom him making bad hires at those positions.

Imagine the vq office about now. It's either 4 people on 7 phone calls, or 4 people sitting at a desk staring at a cell phone waiting for a text.

I bet Gruden already has a system built for it. Seems like he has so much fun with all of it that he has an NFL system and a college system already built out. It’s designed based on watching film and trends of the most successful teams.

I can dream..

Question for the Dr’s on the board.

Is that 4 hour thing real? After reading we have Gruden I don’t think this one is going down for a while.

We only need him for 3-4. Compete for championships and have an absolute stud coach in waiting.

I am 100% for hiring Gruden because of what it would do for the perception of the program nationally and what it would do for the fan base BUT from a wins/losses, compliance and future of the program I agree with you. He will have some obstacles to overcome

Especially if Patterson is supposedly the backup plan. I find that very hard to believe, though.

As massive of a hire as Gruden is, suddenly the hire becomes a little more risky if it involves turning away an established top 5 CFB coach.
