Riley was at East Carolina last year...they ran pretty effectively.

true but it took a few years to really catch on fire at ECU. It was by no means an overnight thing.

you gotta wonder how a brand new OL (that they are concerned about) ,new TE, New Qb, new OC will click during the first yr. Especially on the road.

It always seemed in the past that Oklahoma performs better early in the season. But yea, I like our chances this year. I believe in defense and I really think ours has the potential to be pretty darn good

Especially under hellfire raining down from the gunship that is our D line. And a rowdy checkered Neyland. I'm with BB, I'm getting Cal game feels.

I knew that, I just didn't know if Kingsbury ran the same system, especially after being at A&M.

And I knew that Mike Leach never coached Mayfield. Kingsbury brought his knowledge of Leach's offense to Houston and Sumlin incorporated it. He ran Sumlin's version at Houston and the one season at A&M but has been full Air Raid since returning to Lubbock.

oh the pass rush is coming and it aint just barnett/maggitt.

its also interesting to me how defenses struggle when their own program runs that offense. You'll be hard pressed to find these air it out offenses also play good, consistent defense. Prob doesnt mix well at OU considering they had one of the worst secondaries in CFB last yr.

Barnett, Maggit, Phillips, and K-Mac to Mayfield:

Solid with the Ramsey .gif. Multiple QB's gonna get flayed this year.

I probably worded that wrong, I wasn't attacking you. I'm just not super familiar with Kingsbury's track record other than what he did at A&M.

No problems...as it looks now his star got too bright too fast.

Absolutely comical how people forget about this guy. He has the potential to be a weapon. I really believe that he is head and shoulders above Malone and Croom. I also think he's slightly below Von. Need him and North to step up and be a threat downfield this year.
Agree. May have been his route running. Don't know. But it was amazing how wide open the dude was all the time.

Somewhat surprising. I thought Knight was supposed to be the starter. Was this injury related or Mayfield just out played him? Anyone have anything to offer on what Mayfield's strengths/weaknesses are?

I don't know a damn thing about him but it should be pretty fun watching him in his first road start trying to lead his offense from behind in a deafening, checkered Neyland Stadium vs our yet to be hyped defense and overall team.

Soon...

Don't worry, we'll see both Oklahoma QBs. Remember the 2006 Cal game? They had a fairly competitive QB competition and the UT defense pummeled and messed with the starting QB so that Tedford inserted the backup. If the defense is what we believe it can be, there's a very good chance we see Knight in the game too.

Guys Atlanta Vol has offered to match all donations to "We love Ashlee" from today and tomorrow. His son was sick as a baby and is doing great now. This is a great gesture and can really make a difference.

Here your chance VN. Let's do this.

Where are all the people that absolutely bashed this guy? What a novel idea to reserve judgement on someone.

Prob not too hard. I remember reading back during Leach's TX Tech run that he keeps it ridiculously simple so people know what they are doing. He only had like 6-7 plays he consistently called. They would maybe just run it differently or to different side. I had never heard of the Lincoln guy until his video game numbers at ECU last year.

Pat Forde at Yahoo Sports has the Arkansas vs. Tennessee game as the 19th most intriguing game of the year. Says the winner will be the breakout team of the SEC.
