I believe Butch Jones is an innovator. Just like General Neyland was an innovator of football. Neyland was the first coach to use game and practice film in all of football. He was also the first coach to cover the field with a tarp. I think there is some other stuff that Neyland did to change the game but I can't remember right now. Coach Jones is going to change the game too using sports science. Such as having a sleep coach or monitor players in games and practice with computer technology. Mark my word players will excel in this program. Getting adequate sleep has so many benefits for anybody especially athletes. Once we begin winning and (I really feel we are going to starting this year) all the other coaches across the country will begin trying to mimic his program. Much like coaches did General Neyland.

Stuffed their run attempt on 3rd and 3. YEEAAHH! Forced a 4th down. But the clock is running under a minute and we have no timeouts left at this point. Dallas Baker and Jonathan Wade get into a brief slap fight right in from of the ref and Florida gets called for the penalty. Stops the clock. Huge. Just a ridiculously dumb play on both sides honestly. It could have easily gone against Wade and the game would have been over. But alas! Not on this fateful day of competition. We force a punt with about 50 seconds. Not an impressive punt... Not to mention the 15 yard boost in field position. About 40 seconds to play with.

Ainge is just cool as a goose and spins away from an enormous rushing defender and zips a bullet to Chris Hannon 20 yards over the middle to get us down to their 40 yard line.

Ainge rushes up and spikes it with 29 seconds left. Next play hits Hannon again on a comeback down to the 33. Ainge spikes it again with 13 seconds. 4th down.

In comes Wilhoit. For a 50 yarder. The camera has been panning on his face just analyzing his every failure.

He walks up. Snap is good. Hold is good. The kick is just perfect. Plenty of leg. What a triumphant finish. Such a satisfying and quality moment of redemption.

Tennessee celebrates like a bunch of loonies for the next 10 minutes and gets a penalty (of course). Wilhoit has to kick off from our own 20 with 6 seconds left.

He destroys the kickoff and the Florida returner has to back pedal back to his own 5 yard line to catch it. He makes a dash to about the 18 or so and turns around and chunks a backwards pass towards one of his teammates and we just bury him from all angles. Victory is ours.

What an unlikely and heroic win.

Stressful game though.

I should probably go to bed

The loudest game ive ever been a part of. I hope Butch gets to experience that. He thinks we're passionate but just wait after we knock off a big rival inside Neyland Stadium. He has no idea.

He's not the first to do either of those things.

Neyland among other things was the first coach to use the platoon system for offense and defense. Also brought night football to the college game.If you wanna see something that will freak you out.Research his coaching tree.Absolutely incredible.

I'm watching the 2004 Florida game. I was a junior in high school. Erik Ainge's emergence. He struggles in this one at times, but that touchdown pass to Bret Smith in the early 4th to tie the game at 21. Clutch as hell. The throw is way high where only his guy could get it. Bret Smith leaps in the air and snags it nonchalantly like a ninja and tip toes gracefully into the checkerboards. Boom.

Mind you, this happened Immediately after Florida had just ran the ball down our throats the drive before to the 3 yard line and then got stuffed on 3 straight plays. And then this Roach guy misses the kick! They could have easily gone back up 14 right then, or at the very least we should have been down 10. It was a chip shot.

Brent Schaeffer showed flashes of excellence in this game... But also had two crucial fumbles. He had us driving so well in the 3rd quarter at one point. Just a sick spin move in the open field in tons of traffic and ran like a 20 yard gain to get us in the red zone. And then got blindsided on the next play and turned it over.

Our defense is fun to watch. Unfortunately we lost Kevin Simon in the first half and you can tell they are having to adjust. Also Jesse Mahelona was clogging the middle like a damn lion in his native tundra. Kevin Burnett. Huah. He might have been my favorite player of that whole era.

It's just awesome to see a really talented and disciplined Tennessee defense. I'm reminded that it's possible. Florida is just a school with a series of highs and lows like anyone else. New people coming and going. Same as us. But lately, we've had a lot more talented people coming, they've had more talented people going. I'm feeling an end to this streak lurking on the horizon in a big way. Like honestly.... I'm not even scared of them. We are going to take over that rats nest of a stadium while we send their greasy fans scurrying home halfway through the 3rd quarter. It's going to be ugly and Dobbs will lead the band in Rocky Top while we all celebrate the win I've been waiting patiently for since that oh so glorious day in 2004 when the Vols stole one from the gators.

Go big orange forever.

Getting an image of that as I read it. Can't wait!:dance2:

I was in the recruits section for that game. That kick landed 3 rows behind me. I've never heard a stadium that loud. It was one of the greatest moments in the locker room after that game. One of those memories you never forget!

I talked to them for a while last night while they were getting started. Kind of glad I didn't offer to help now with seeing how intricate they went with it.

Funnily enough, they thought I was with UT and might report them or something at first.

Random predictions for 2015:

-We're going to streamroll an opponent that most of us are sweating right now (I'm leaning towards OU or Arky)

-We will not get blown out in any games or lose by more than 10 pts

-We will lead Bama at the half

-We will win a Verne and Gary called CBS game for the first time since 2006

-We're going to lose one game most of us are predicting as a win (UF/Mizzou/USC)

-One coach from the West will leave the SEC at the end of the season, either for the NFL or another conference (storyline there will be ridiculous parity and tough nature of the division, making it too tough to make the playoffs)

-QD will fill in briefly for Dobbs after he gets shaken up and will lead the team to an SEC win. There will be a brief QB controversy after this because he's going to look elite for a freshman

-Medley will be the top kicker in the SEC

-Neither Alabama nor Auburn will win the West

-TCU wins the playoffs
-We will lead Alabama at the the end of the SECOND HALF!
