Ehhh.. Is that good or bad?

From what I heard on the radio von was in good standing academically after the spring semester. I'm sure typical university procedure will hold it up for a bit but I just don't see him being out too long...jmo

This whole situation is so stupid.

He's done nothing wrong; let him get back on the field with his brothers. He's been very patient.

I'm surprised Butch hasn't driven the recruiting tank over to the head office to get this handled.

Screw that! Just found footage of Butch making a point with the Dean of Student life's Prius!

They don't but they don't have to because they aren't proving guilt beyond a shadow of doubt.

All that being said, I don't see anyway he's not reinstated unless there are other campus issues with him that I'm unaware of and I don't believe that there are any other previous campus problems.

I've represented student athletes in front of this same disciplinary board at ETSU on a couple occasions. Actually, on one occasion, it was after having a charge dismissed in court. Once you go in front of a board of two or three faculty/administrators and a few students and explain to them that their standard is much more lenient (Confession: I do not know their standard of proof) than the standard of beyond a reasonable doubt in a criminal prosecution, they should have no problem reinstating him. If this even requires that. If the state of Tennessee, by way of the District Attorney's Office in Knox County, thought there was even probable cause (more likely than not) that Von committed a crime, he would be facing criminal charges right now.

The UT kangaroo court is it going to stand in his way.

Seems obvious to me their trying to bury his reinstatement at the end of the weekly news cycle on Friday. IMO he'll be back on Friday and miss a total of one practice with pads. It still makes UT's admin look completely gutless though.

Excellent point.. On Friday afternoon stories get buried.

Only way he doesn't get on is if the accuser has more connections than he does at the school. Only someone with an agenda could keep him out of school. I just think they need to act like they took a day or two to review again to cover their butts in the fed investigation.

Keep in mind that it was announced yesterday after practice that CBJ will not meet again with the media until after Friday's practice. So don't expect any comments from Butch regarding Von or anything else until then.

Yep. I'm surprised he didn't put it out there a month ago. Wonder if he was led to believe that Von would be reinstated by the start of camp and held off until he saw that it wasn't going to play out like he thought.

Probably because he was just recently told of the criminal case being closed. He wouldn't be putting on public pressure if he didn't know that outcome.

First of all, we cleaned up to simplify the front page story. Now, all of this is hard to explain and is a bit confusion in terms of his potential reinstatement.

We are hearing that a reinstatement could possibly come in the next 24-48 hours.

Now for the confusion stuff...

By University policy if a student is found not guilty in a University case then a suspension could be lifted and it's over. No student conduct.

However, just because the state of Tennessee decided there was not enough to prosecute, the University has a separate investigation into violations of student conduct so they make their own ruling separate of what the court of law or the DA's office decides.

Obviously, there are lots of questions about Michael Williams being a student facing an indictment and Pearson suspended without being charged. All the University will say is that each case is different. Obviously, the University felt like that had justification for coming back and suspending Pearson for the summer. I have no idea what that justification was and the University under federal law can't say.

From a public standpoint, the University is backed into a box here with one former player charged with a crime being allowed to remain a student while another who was never charged was suspended during the investigation.

It will be interesting to see what transpires tomorrow. Pearson will not be on the practice field tonight for sure.

I'm watching the DB drills. Sutton my boy and all but Martin is the most naturally talented CB on the roster. If he starts(I expect him to), then he will have a huge season. Teams better not get to 3rd and long against us. This is a dangerous team we have this year. :)

It's not common for no coaches or players to not be interviewed after practice. I have never seen that happen before. You usually get one or the other. This makes me think Butch had a pretty good idea of this timeline and didnt want assistants or players bombarded with those questions. Wednesday is usually assistant day

The difference between Von and Williams cases, in the eyes of the university, is probably whether or not the alleged victims are still students at the school.

Just my opinion.

Y'all are upset about the wrong quote. The last quote has Spurrier written all over it...

In a couple of years, I wouldn't be surprised to see them win 9 games.
