Actually this points to a key factor in Fulmer's downfall. Not that Foster was the problem but Fulmer's attempt to use religion to discipline the modern athlete is incongruent to the secular standard at a state university. Voluntary participation is certainly appropriate but religion as a facet of team spirit and team discipline is regressive.:yes:
Edit: I hope this does not continue to be an issue in the CBJ tenure. The emphasis on professionalism, family, objective standards and excellence seems to be something that is serving as a cohesive theme for the culture change underway. It is a model of modern public success. Individually religion can certainly be a part of this, but it is inappropriate as a wider organizational principle for the program.
