Haven't found any credible link to it, but my die hard Illini fan nephew just texted me and posited that Coach Jake was third on their fan's wish list...for a HC position that hasn't been vacated? Found it funny after the fire under him on here. Chattanooga week is fun! :)

Was this in the recruiting forum? That's probably why it got merged.

I don't even know who Illinois coach is.

Be nice to see some of those doozy threads from Beattie Feathers absorbed into this amoeba. :)

Hmmm..so which coach are you? Havent seen vols4us listed in a media guide. By the way, exactly who do you propose we replace Coleman & Jashon with, cause I missed it in your breakdown. Oh yeah, I forgot Butch is unable to determine the talent & ability of the current players & must be just throwing Coleman & Jashon out there to get them experience. You should bring this insight to the next coaches meeting, Im sure they will be thankful you were able to help fix this oline issue! Of course their not ready, thats the whole point. We dont have anyone better to put out their or we would. Do you really think hes putting his $3million per year job on the line because hes stubborn! Some of you need to think before you post.

I joined this board hoping to interact with fellow Vol fans, learn anything I could and share what I could as well. It’s ok when people have opinions that folks don’t agree with. This board is quick to attack, judge and gang up on members.

Contrary to belief, it’s very possible for people to bring perspective that might contradict a coach while not disrespecting a coach. Experience comes at all levels, playing the game from grade school, high school, college and the CFL, you never truly know the background of who may be sharing their thoughts.

I lurked for over a year before finding this side of the board hoping it was better. It’s really not. Freak has an amazing board, try treating each other a little better. I first starting lurking with Rich Rod passed away, it was a sad time and I didn’t know the man. It was a great gesture the way VolNation band together. Keep that spirit leading the board and leave this other crap behind.

I will give my take, after that I will take a break from the board.

Coach Jones will get the players to compete. He still hasn’t proven to be a good game day coach.

At THIS POINT, Coach Gillespie is the only SEC caliber coach on the offensive staff. Emphasis on at this point.

Coach Bajakian was tricked/lulled into bad decision making and Butch should have stepped in.

Late in the 3rd quarter, Florida knew it could not score on offense and made a risk/reward move. They knew they must generate a turnover. Florida knows Tennessee can’t block their D line. Florida starts to bring more pressure, moving their corners up to take away the slants, quick passes. (for all of you asking why didn’t we throw quick passes)for the next two possessions, Florida continues to bait Bajakian, knowing they must generate a turnover and change field position. Bajakian falls for it, calls a vertical dig.

He did the one and only thing he could do to let Florida back into the game and that is call a long developing play knowing your O Line has not shown the ability all game to withstand the pressure. Again, Florida knew they could not drive the length of the field twice to win. This loss is 100% on the coaches, they could have easily been conservative and got out of Neyland with a win. So all you who are jumping all over everyone who speaks a different opinion should realize even though the coaches are professionals, they aren’t always right.

Again, I believe Coach Jones will win here in time. I think he is a very fine man, recruiter and ambassador for the Tennessee program. I just don’t think at this point he is a very good x & o’s coach and will have to surround himself with better talent on the offensive side of the ball to truly compete for a SEC Championship.

I will let you all go back to degrading and humiliating each other.

On the way to the game Saturday my wife said we should cheggerboard Neyland orange and black for Halloween, I think that would look good too. Hats off to everybody for pulling it off on such short notice. I was showing pics to some friends and they thought TN provided shirts for the crowd, I told them everybody brought their own and did it on short notice. They were impressed.

You wrote a year's worth of paragraphs...see you next Labor Day! :salute:

Curious:
Who is the better offensive tackle and offensive guard that are sitting the bench right now rather then the two true freshman that are playing?

Weisman for one at guard. Anybody at tackle - take your pick. Kendrick, possibly Blair, possibly Sanders, etc. But we will never know - the infallible Butch has spoken.

Everybody wants to jump to the aid of Butch. He doesn't need any help. Let the results speak for themselves. Coaches never make mistakes if posters like them - until they do. Not to you, Doc, because you are one of the most reasonable posters on here, but I know many of the posters on here only post to act big and attack those that will make meaningful comments based on knowledge and opinions of real coaches of the game.

A college coaching friend and I broke down the film of the last two games on the offensive line. Only one player is fully competent at his position - Jackson. The next best who is also making correct line calls is Crowder - who most trash on here. When he gets pushed by a big NT/DT, on nearly every play he was to have double team assistance and the majority of the time he didn't it was Jashon's role. Jashon is ducking his head and losing his balance frequently. Getting off balance gives the DL leverage and a lane to the ball. Understandable - true freshman - he's anxious and has not been developed enough yet. Coleman Thomas is so focused on getting this footwork right on pass blocking he can't lay a hand on the DL half the time on a pass rush. He takes the outside rusher more times than the correct inside rusher. On runs he stands nearly straight up and shields his man and shoves with his arms most of the time. Low man wins in the trenches. Doesn't mean he won't get better over time. Butch wants to force it to happen quicker - his call not mine. Kerbyson is a really good G and a pretty fair RT who is playing a mediocre at best LT. But it is all working so well our guys are last in the SEC in rushing YPC and our QB is a walking tackling dummy.

But lets stay the course and not change a thing. It's a process.
