you guys are unreal. We lose to Florida so now he's Dooley. This is not xbox. This is a rebuild being dependent on freshman. He's recruiting at a high level but he's Dooley. He's brought the fan base together but he's Dooley. Defense is the best we've seen in years but he's Dooley. Former players are united and coming back to campus but he's Dooley. He didn't run a play that you think would work better and we lost so he's Dooley. #zoneread4what

You are over exaggerating. Lets deal in specifics, with the current state of Florida football, the game at home, up 9 late in the game the coaching staff is 100% responsible for losing this game.

Let’s not talk in all hypothetical. Let’s just look at Saturday alone. Nobody is saying Butch isn’t the guy, or is Dooley 2.0. Anyone with any football knowledge will agree our lack of offensive adjustments, protection packages and play calling did contribute more than anything in the loss to Florida.

If anyone wants to understand the zone running game better, this is about the best thing on the internet about it. Written by Chip Kelly, but pretty much all of it applies to our offense today.

Coach Chip Kelly Explains the Oregon Spread Offense | FishDuck
I hate to keep posting about this one topic, but here is one last comment on this article.

The two statements from Kelly that stand out to me the most are these.

"The inside zone is our “go to work” play. It has become or signature play. We want to get off the ball and be a physical, downhill-running football team. This is not a finesse play…. We want to come off the ball, create a double team, knock the crap out of a defender, and deposit him in the linebacker’s lap."

"This may sound like a contradiction, but we do not read anything. When you read, you become uncertain. We want the ball in the running back’s hands. We do not want the quarterback carrying the ball. The option can put the ball in his hands, but the defense can force it out of his hands. We want the quarterback to give the ball unless he cannot."

Both of these completely apply to our offense. I'd say Butch would agree 100% with these 2 statements, but I think both of these are overlooked by some fans.

The zone run game is downhill and physical. Even though we run the "spread," we want to be a power football team. This offense is not designed to get the quarterback runs. He is to hand off the ball unless he absolutely can not.

Was just looking at Ole Miss his schedule. We could be a trap game for them, they have to go on the road to college station which I'm sure they'll be up for to solidify their top five ranking after beating Alabama. Then they come home and face us before a tough West game against LSU. Maybe they'll overlook us a little bit and that somehow helps. I don't know I'm grasping for straws at this point.

Or, we could play at the same level as when we played Georgia and legitimately beat them. People are forgetting that this team has performed well before. The problem is one of consistency, not a complete lack of ability.

I want my coach pissed off. That tells me he cares. He doesn't like to lose. His job is not to make you feel better through some humility. May be he should cry up there and have snot bubbles to make you feel better this week.

Man, you are emotional today. Maybe you should take a step back from it and take a breath. Again, you are exaggerating and it’s clearly clouding your football acumen.

This. Butch has done more for UT than Dooley ever thought about doing. The wins will come, just wait and see.

I think Worley is a gamer and gives his all but until we have a QB who is a real threat to pull it back and take the edge this offense wont work that great. Even if he gains 4 yards, the DEs have to be held up and they arent, they dont even bother with Worley.

Using the word Dooley to describe anything towards this team or staff is the over exaggeration. If you can't see how putting true freshman on the Oline sets you up for disaster you don't know football. Skill position is one thing but freshman in the trenches to protect the QB for four quarters because you lack depth. Keep it real not emotional.

So I drop in here after a few hours and its meltdown 2.0 again. All because of a press conference?

On another note, of course its our luck that that reason(s) Florida beats us gets busted for rape directly after playing us. We are the most snake bitten program in the last 10 years.

You are wrong, you never want the coaching staff calling out a fan base or media. I respectfully agree with Vols Sack. You are way too wound up and can't see the coaching staff let one clearly slip away Saturday.

Comparing Butch to Dooley is asinine
1. Look at our running backs. Who do we have between Marlin Lane and Jalen Hurd
2. OL recruiting was a joke.
3. TE recruiting was a joke.
4. Don't get me started with his defensive recruiting.
It's like we have been in a ****ty dream that we can't wake up from.

If our QB lined up under center and just turned around he would be able to give the ball to the RB 100% of the time. The line can still be doing whatever to deposit someone in the LB's lap.

He's coming across frustrated because the fans are questioning him, not because he's upset we lost. That's not a positive thing.

Not to say he isn't upset we lost; that was clear Saturday.

The QB gives it to the RB 100% of the time anyways. This is why the under center vs. shotgun debate really is irrelevant.

Honestly I question whether our OL would be able to execute a power run game. With them being so young, they're not nearly as strong as they need to be. A zone scheme doesn't require the OL to fire off the ball and get as much push as a power scheme (I'm fairly sure. Admittedly I'm no expert.) A zone running game is probably this OL's best chance at opening up some holes.

It is and Iam a expert.
