A lot of people don't realize that we have gotten better week by week. And unlike Dooley we're gonna upset 1 of South Carolina, Bama, or Ole Miss.
There is no way you can tell me we were better against Florida than Georgia.

Defense sure. But I think our defense would've shut UGA down if they didn't have the best player in college football.

The offense took a major step back and the special teams sucked (coverage/return wise). Medley and Darr had good games, but they did vs UGA too.
I'd rather have a Mahlzahn guy. They actually like to run the ball with power.
This please. The problem with Malzahn is he's not been around long enough to really build much of a coaching tree. Lashlee will get a HC job soon, but he's not going to be an OC anywhere else. None of his other assistants at AU have even been with him very long.
Actually Butch said its a game of match ups. Which is true. Put. Receiver on a fat LB and that's a matchup. Bama felt that. You guys are reading a little too much into certain statements to overly criticize. He has continuously stated we need more talent and speed. He's recruited to that. There are a lot of sayings that are related to this game and they're all true in some way.
Fwiw, I was asking if he said that or not. I have never heard that before.

My point is that statement reflects what is, in my opinion, a very poor strategy. Whether that is actually his strategy I don't know.

Those are probably the most disheartening quotes I've seen from Butch. He both put all the blame on the players and actually claimed that offensive play calling essentially makes no difference. He needs to just own that the coaches didn't call a good game against FL.

Damn I love me some Derek Barnett...may end up being our most important recruit from '14

Yeah , Barnett is a hoss and we will have to ride him and the rest of the defense the rest of the way. Guess we better get some pick 6's if we want to get to 6 wins. The defenses rallying cry should be 6 for 6 the rest of the season.

Twitter stuff is all over the place on Treon...

First thing I saw is he was arrested for being the leader of ISIS after beheading UT...

Now this one..

What did #TreonHarris get arrested 4? I bet it was stealing #JeffDriskel's job! #FireMuschamp

James Walker ‏@JamesWalkerJax 1m1 minute ago
Ouch. That hurts; truth that is. RT @whostheboff: So basically in 3 years Treon Harris will lead Auburn to a national title… #Gators

No he didn't. He took blame as well

@Vol_Football: JONES: We have to hold every individual accountable. It starts with me, I’m the head football coach.

Yes. He needs to own it. Putting it on the players is Dooleyish.

@John_BriceVQ: . @UTCoachJones Yes (on dialogue w/ SEC on possible delay penalty vs. UF). Awaiting #SEC answer. Also indicates missed 12-men-on-field call.

And at the same time he says that play calling makes no difference and all the problem was the execution. Kind of talking out of both sides of his mouth.

This SEC officiating issue is out of control. It has cost three teams an unfair disadvantage in a loss. Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky.

Stop running out of the shotgun?

What I'm saying is.... Why operate out of the zone-read scheme? If there is no option to keep it? The backside DE will crash every single time. I wouldn't mind running out of shotgun. Pistol would be fine. I prefer under-center, but I know that won't happen.

I just don't think we are playing to our OL's run blocking strengths. And I definitely believe that we aren't maximizing our potential for our RBs.

Agree totally. Oh well, I will sit back, support the team and probably die before we win the East again. Still wish we could get a Mike Leach type replacement for the OC and combine it with the D we have. Would be unstoppable.

@rockytopinsider: Jones: "We're not just a zone-read football team. I think that's a myth. It just comes with people not understand run schemes."

Well then... Why do we still run out of that same stupid ass formation??

So dumb

I actually expected a much more humble CBJ in his presser. He does realize pissing off the press and fans isn’t the way to go in this town correct?

His Offensive coaching staff swung and missed this weekend and hit the fans in the f… ing head with the bat on Saturday and he is getting “chippy”?

Butch is so far from being like Dooley, they're not in the same hemisphere. Look at this:

@wesrucker247: Butch: “I’m proud of this football team. They keep working. We have a relentless approach to everything we do."

Butch often goes out of the way to praise or make encouraging remarks about his players. Did Dooley ever do that? At the same time, lack of execution and youthful mistakes are glaring. If he ignored commenting on it, I'm sure some on here would have problem with that too.

Goodness. This fanbase is sometimes the greatest and sometimes the most frustrating. Passion is at the root of both I guess

@wesrucker247: Butch: “Everybody thinks play-calling is some magic cure. Everybody runs the same plays. It comes down to execution."

@Volquest_Rivals: Butch Jones: "Everybody runs the same plays. It comes down to execution, one-on-one match-ups ... that's the game of football."

Maybe Butch has been reading the armchair QBs on here
I can tell he's frustrated with what some fans are saying. This is kinda the response I expected. He doesn't see at as an issue. This is why I don't think he'll let Bajakian go unless something crazy happens.

I'm just an idiot fan, so I don't know anything I guess. But in my opinion, to act like the problem is all on the players executing and has nothing to do with playcalling or the system would be naive.

He's right that it is about one on one matchups and players executing. But are our coaches really doing the best job right now at putting those players in position to win? Obviously Butch feels the answer is yes.

Well he's right in the sense that Worley isn't reading anyone.

The run game is primarily zone, there is no argument there. If the defense has a safety in the box, the backside DE is being left unblocked. That much is obvious. Whether Worley is actually supposed to be reading him or just supposed to hand it off I don't know, and I guess I never will unless I get in that coaches meeting room.

I will say, Worley gets too much flak for not pulling the ball. There are maybe 1-2 plays a game where he should've/could've pulled the ball. This is far from the biggest issue with our run game. The backside end is not the one tackling our back.

Maybe, (and I'm completely serious here), Jones should do a few film breakdown videos for UTSports.com explaining what our run scheme is if he really is frustrated that we don't understand. Many coaches have done this in the past and it might help some fans understand what we are doing better.
