It's just very hard to throw the ball down the field, or do anything for that matter with a Bad O-Line. You know it's bad when Florida has a 3 man rush and still sacking the QB or causing pressure in the pocket.
People want to blame the playcalling as to why we lost, but its very hard to excute an offense when your O-line is as bad as ours and a lot of people don't realize that.
Actually Butch said its a game of match ups. Which is true. Put. Receiver on a fat LB and that's a matchup. Bama felt that. You guys are reading a little too much into certain statements to overly criticize. He has continuously stated we need more talent and speed. He's recruited to that. There are a lot of sayings that are related to this game and they're all true in some way.
@wesrucker247: #Butchism of the day: "Everyone wants the prize, but no one wants the process."
@patrickbrownTFP: Butch asked if he'll revisit sticking with the same offensive line: "With who?" Vols simply low on options.
@Volquest_Rob: Butch: 'We're down two full recruiting classes on the OL. That's the reality.'
@Volquest_Rob: Butch: 'I don't know if everyone understands...OL is a developmental position.
@Vol_Football: JONES: Offensive line is a developmental position. You want guys that have been there for 3, 4, 5 years.
@wesrucker247: Butch: Everybody thinks play-calling is some magic cure. Everybody runs the same plays. It comes down to execution."
@Volquest_Rivals: Butch Jones: "Everybody runs the same plays. It comes down to execution, one-on-one match-ups ... that's the game of football."

Agreed. Example, if we had jr and senior on the Oline and Hurd was a junior in that wildcat package when the gators D was confused he would have snapped the ball. The Oline would have jumped on that miscommunication. Unfortunately our youth couldn't take advantage of that. In a year that won't happen. It's easy for me to scream snap the ball from my couch.Yep. Future NFLers going up against 18 year old true freshmen is not a good recipe for success. Most people thought that year 3 or 4 is when we would start making a run at the east. Yet we had a shot at doing that, if just a couple things go differently the last two weeks, in year 2. We are on the right track and are making progress.
Still hurts. Still shoulda won for sure on Saturday. And we failed. But that happens to all teams and all coaches. You have bad games. You make mistakes, some very costly. If it becomes a long-standing trend, then maybe make an argument.
But we still have 7 games left. All of which can be won, some by far more than others, of course. But I love going into games not thinking we'll likely get blown out and knowing we have at least a shot to win, if we play great and catch some breaks. Again, that's obvious progress
