If you want help with both places, please PM me and we can exchange numbers and I will gladly help you out. I live on Long Island and spend a good bit in NYC and have been to Philly at least 50+ times.
Like was mentioned before, try to take a train into the city. It will save you money. What town will you be in?
I've driven through the heart of Manhattan twice. The first time was mid-morning through Chinatown. I'm a pretty good driver (all men are good at two things, and one of them's driving) with experience in city driving, but it's a whole other beast in NYC.
In Philly, eat Pat's, and then walk across the street and east at Geno's. Those are the classic places, though there are better places.
NYC... Sigh. Parking will be over $25 per hour if you can find it. Entry in to Manhattan is probably around $10 via tolls.

Need a little help.
It looks like, The Lord Willing, I will be getting to travel for work for the first time ever, here in a little over a week. It will be up in NJ, between Philly and NYC. Never been to either, so I plan to try to visit each to at least eat and maybe catch a couple sites, etc.
1) I will be in a rental car. I have no idea about driving to/in either city. Can someone tell me the best way to get in the city -esp NYC. And where do I park once I'm there, like if I wanted to visit Time Square/central park/WTC, etc? Is there somewhere to park the car and then travel on the subway? Any ideas?
2) is Philly hard to get around in?
3) If you only had ONE restaurant to recommend ($ 30-40 and under) in either city, what would it be?
Thanks and Go Vols!
There are so many trains that travel to NYC. I was in Poughkeepsie and we took a 90 minute train ride that was really enjoyable and you get to see a lot of the Hudson. Just take one to grand central station. get an all day metro card and travel underground. It's what the locals do because it's practical
Wife had our little boy yesterday. 9lbs 1 ounce. 21 inches. First outfit of course is the power T gear

What's up Volnation. This is my first post here. Been reading the board for a little while now. Would like to say what a great job everyone does with all the info. I will be visiting Knoxville for the first time for the O&W game this year. Will also be bringing my family. Was just wondering about things like best places to eat, stay, and how to prepare for all the festivities on game day. Also how do I go about getting tickets. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Our tight end situation is horrible. Helm and Wolf have to be ready to play if not start from day 1.

ionaVOL is spot on - driving in NYC is to be avoided at all costs
on another note traveling for work is kinda like sleeping with a lot of women - sounds great at first but you just end up around many more diseases, bone tired, and ready to be home
