Interesting that Rod Wilks, Eric Gordon and Herman Lathers participated. It never really got much discussion, but I was surprised Lathers did not apply for another year. I know he had a redshirt before, and possibly a medical, but I still thought he was likely to get another one if he applied. I might be mistaken here.

We could have used another big body at LB this year.

Madkins pointed out on VQ that Palardy's 4.64 40 today is faster than any non WR or RB pro day time at UT in the last 3 years. Sobering stat.

If Dooley just had time... just a little more time, he would have trimmed our average 40 times on pro day to 5.00 flat for skill players.

Oh what could have been.

In a nutshell, this is the very reason that we have sucked for the past 4 years.

We've sucked for longer than 4 years... but yeah, this is a big reason why.

Once upon a time, broadcasts of UT games routinely began with the announcers saying Tennessee had the fastest defense XYZ team had played all year. I haven't heard a statement like that in years about Tennessee.

I guess I should have worded that a little different. Let me try again.
That's why we've sucked exponentially bad for the last 4 years.

@patrickbrownTFP: Michael Palardy told me his shortest punt during his workout at pro day was 45 yards. His average neared 50 yards.

I don't remember where or who I heard/read this from but I vividly remember someone alleging Dooley would tell Palardy "don't f*** up" just before he would run out on the field.

Just goes to show most of his issues were mental, not physical...but when your coach gives that kind of "encouragement" kind of hard to get over the hump.

Fuad Reveiz said that after South Carolina game

Might be some record if we have three starting punters in the league next year.

I believe that's true. I know I heard Fuad Reveiz mention it more than once. Fuad really, really disliked Dooley and that an extreme understatement.
