True. How many freshmen are starting on defense by the end of the year? I say at least two. Hendrix has a shot. Wouldn't be super suprised to see Bates work his way in their. I think Gaulden makes a push as well. Maybe one of the Berrys. We've definitely upgraded in the speed department.

I think a nickel corner or outside corner if coleman moves inside is a definite - but that is the only definite

they will be all over the 2 deep though and that is where I think the presence will most be felt - our starters played a lot of snaps last last year and some of their struggles were due to this (see guys like AJ) - we will have depth and a lot of athleticism at that depth

but several could end up starting - SS, CB, NB, DE, OLB - all are possibilities for a FR to come in

Is anyone else having trouble with POA's vid? It won't play for me, says "An error occurred, please try again later." I've tried it at least 6 times between yesterday afternoon and this morning. Could it have something to do with using Internet Explorer on a work computer that may not be up to date?

Who all is making the trip to oxford this year ? Ill be attending. Wondering how many on VN goin. Maybe get together for tailgate

I don't know if you guys are old enough to remember that we used to play Ole Miss in Memphis. I was there in 91. I was a kid. It was cool because it was close but Liberty Bowl sucks and I'm glad they stopped. I will be there this year, I plan to see us play in every SEC stadium eventually. Just crossed off Commonwealth this year.

Are you 18+? May be blocked as too violent for younger viewers.

Bryant, Kelly Jr, and Barnett really bring the pain in the vid

Bruce Feldman believes UT will win the SEC East within the next 3 years.

Yes, he does.

Big Picture: Sizing up Signing Day - CBSSports.com

*Tennessee signed the No. 7 ranked recruiting class in the nation. I'm not surprised Butch Jones and his staff are recruiting well. Big WR Josh Malone, RB Jalen Hurd and JC OT Dontavius Blair are already enrolled and should make big impacts in 2014. Also keep an eye on big LB Jakob (pronounced Yah-kub) Johnson, a native of Germany, who Jones told me is the "Alpha Male of this class." There's also a bunch more studs on defense that'll arrive in the fall. More reasons why I'm convinced that Tennessee will win an SEC East title within the next three seasons.

SIAP, but John Brice of VQ got the awesome privilege to hang out with Butch and everybody else in the War Room. He documented and detailed everything.

Brice said while the coaches were eager to get the faxes in, the true main focus was the 2015 and 2016 kids. Brice said, while he was in the War Room for those 5-6 hours, the coaches were able to talk to over 250 '15 and '16 prospects.

Azzanni told him that when Malone committed, he had his position nailed down so from there on out he has been recruiting next year's class every day for essentially 3-4 months now.

I know Thig gets a lot of the recruiting credit (and rightfully so), but I think Elder and Azzanni have done a GREAT job as well. Elder is on the Memphis kids and is responsible for TEs and STs. We signed a top 5 kicker, #1 LS, #2 TE, and Ethan Wolf.

I think Gillespie is really starting to prove himself as well. Getting Hurd, Paulk, and Scott is no fluke. I thought Jay Graham was pretty detailed in his coaching. Well Gillespie is on a different level and that's what it takes at this level.

"You get what you put in".... I think that phrase will depict the efforts of our coaches on the recruiting trail with the results of our upcoming classes. I will admit, I was VERY skeptical of this staff when they were first hired.

I truly believe not one other coaching staff in the world will out-work our staff in anything.

Just my thoughts, post signing day

Wow. :loco:

Rivals has a position rankings for the '14 class out.

Offense:

RB, UT is #5. Others in top 5: UGA, LSU, OU, Oregon.

5. Tennessee

Five-star Hurd is a dynamic and unique in-state talent for the Vols to add to their offense, while four-star Scott was a very nice addition from North Carolina. Joining them is three-star Paulk, who is the No. 12 all-purpose back in the country.

WR, UT is #4. Others in top 5: FSU, Clemson, PSU, OSU/LSU (tied for 5th).

4. Tennessee

Keeping five-star Malone in-state was a priority for the Vols staff from day one and they got the job done. Adding four-star Wharton and four-star junior college receiver Pearson was icing on the cake for the staff and the fans in Knoxville.

TE, UT is #3. UGA, ND, Clemson, Stanford.

3. Tennessee

Four-star Helm, the No. 2 tight end nationally, is yet another important piece to the Vols puzzle. He is joined by three-star Wolf, who committed back in April after reeling in offers from schools like Alabama, Michigan State, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

Should be top 5 in defensive line and defensive back as well.

I think our special teams will be much improved next year! Can't wait til spring ball. Does anyone know the when we had the mass commits last year? Was it in April?

Something worth noting on that Rivals article. Bama is #1 for OL group but not in the top 5 at any other offensive position.

I love watching Gavin Bryant highlights - him qualifying may turn out to be huge for us if all continues to go according to plan on that front - kid just looks like an All SEC LB

I thought Helm was the #1 TE on Rivals? Shouldn't him plus Wolf automatically lock up the #1 TE spot?

UGA's TE commit shined at the Under Armour game and Helm wasn't invited so that kid jumped Helm in the final ranking and they made UGA #1 on the list. It's bs because UGA only has 1 TE commit. ND is #2 with the #7 and #12 TE's. Yup, it's stupid.

The had a kid flip from Louisville the day before NSD...3*…probably the excuse they needed.

Whatever. I think we really have 3 TE's now with Creamer anyhow so that automatically locks up with #1 TE class in my mind.

Shoutout to Vol_Kirby! Thanks for all the updates. This is my favorite time of the recruiting year, just wrapping up '14 and getting a ton of info on '15. Looking forward to the Jr Days.
