The only con I see is with the assistants. Not keeping Jay Graham, Tee Martin going to USC, and letting Darin Hinshaw go. Sadly, Vandy was the favorite and better team so I wasn't surprised. They beat UGA, UF, and UT. Its hard to get a great QB in this class when we have a SR, 2 SO, and a FR already.

With all due respect, CRG >>>>>>> CJG

CRG = Hurd, Paulk, and Scott
CJG = no running backs though he did get M. North and thankful for that.

Talent at RB? The only reliable guy in the backfield is Lane and he has been dinged up quite a bit. Hurd, Paulk, and Scott have yet to play a down of college football. Plus, Hurd and Paulk are coming off major surgeries. I'm not saying that's these kids won't be good but stop acting like we are loaded with experience in the backfield. Talent...yes. Experience....no.

Also, I don't see how everyone is saying that the OLine is gonna be as good or better than it has been the past few years. When you lose that many starters on an Oline, there is gonna be a significant drop off in production IMO, but to each their own.

Hah I said talent specifically in my post. You basically just said I was wrong and then said I was right in the same paragraph. And yes I think Hurd/Scott/Lane is an upgrade over Neal/Lane, freshmen or not.

I get what you're saying about the offensive line though. I'm sure there will be some drop off at first. But I'm kind of excited to see this new o-line group. They're gonna get doubted big time. I hope they feed off of it and play with a chip on their shoulder.

I'm honestly basing a lot of the improvements that we've gotten used to not seeing the past few (8 or so) years on the fact that I believe we finally have good coaches on this staff that will make our players better and believe they can actually win games.

Next years roster in bball is depleted

I agree - ugly. Headed toward the cellar with the Barn if you ask me. Even if he lucked up and over achieved it will still be NIT quality at best. Bruce is the only coach I know about that can take a junky roster and get it in the dance. There may be others, but would they be willing to walk into this situation at a football first school? Not very many options IMO.

Jordan Rodgers just went on about a 10 tweet soapbox rant about how he has been denied access to the VU indoor training facility to train with and mentor the current players. He made mention that VU will continue to be a steeping stone school for coaches and will remain mired in mediocrity because of the way it treats it's former players. WOW! He simply lamb blasted the VU AD.

Most people want him but I think the whole political part makes it difficult

Pearl lied about some rather small violations over a BBQ . He has served his time and IMO, would be an excellent option to rehire and get back to being a contender in SEC basketball. If college sports are supposed to be widely accepted as cut throat, Pearl is small potatoes if looking for political reasons to not hire him back. The man can recruit and the man can coach basketball. Mr. Hart, Do it.

It would be electric. Can you imagine the media attention?

UT basketball was much better when there was the media attention CBP brought to the program. I think the man would jump at the job to come back and make things right. He screwed up and he knows it. Like another poster said, if Bobby P can be forgiven, so can Bruce Pearl.

I hope so. Coaches need to be held accountable and IMO CCM has had plenty of time to prove himself worthy to coach our Vols. IMO, he's not done it to the level that should be expected.

Yeah but he is losing honorably. Isn't that what Ol' Leb wants? Players like/trust him. He hasn't dropped anybody close to signing day. It was my understanding that's all that mattered. That, and ice cream after games.

Actual coaching, goes into coaching. Coaching and recruiting are different animals and are viewed differently IMO when considering the program as a whole. With CCM, I don't see anyone really getting better. I don't see the team playing as a team. IMO he looks a lot like Derek Dooley at the controls. I called very early on for Dools to be canned and I am to that point with Mr. Martin. I think his recruiting was on the up and up and was good for the most part. The product he puts on the floor is what will cost him his job IMO.

I'm all for ice cream after a game win or lose. Only thing is Bruce Pearl can't come as him and public food/meal functions can go bad. :)

Man, what has happened to UT Basketball. IF we don't make the NCAA Tournament, Is Cuonzo gone?

Well, Bruce lied, got fired, put us on NCAA probation, we had to reach for a hire with Cuonzo who had to throw together a recruiting class while under heavy NCAA fire then it turns out he's a terrible coach.

We have a talented squad. Mcrae is a SEC Player of the Year caliber player. Stokes is a beast and is a 20 ppg -10 reb type of player. Yet, this team has bad losses, bad chemistry, bad defense, bad spacing, bad offense.

3 years without a NCAA tournament bid won't cut it here.

2 words for the underachieving: Cuonzo Martin
