I really think Weatherd plays LEO and Williams plays SDE. Vereen being a passing down pass rusher

DE - Williams
DT - Carr/Saulsberry
NT - O'Brien
LEO - Weatherd
SAM - Maggitt
MIKE - AJ
WILL - JRM

I like it. Just need some depth. But there are some good players in that lineup.

I wonder if Jakob Johnson plays some DE. He's huge. Also, wonder if Maggitt converts full-time to DE.

I think you might be right - it will be interesting to see who starts stepping up in the Spring

i would love to see this happen with CM - this is his position in the NFL imo - he is not a 4-3 LB in the NFL - but he can be a 3-4 LB or a pass rushing specialist type DE in a 4-3 scheme

Yeah I like Maggitt at LB, but he could work hard and try DE out. I am weary because he wasn't great at 3-4 OLB IMO (although he was arguably one of the best defender on the team) under Sal.

they actually use leo on the depth chart some weeks - see below

also note the starters before you panic about our DL next year - not like we had all americans suiting up for us this year - 1 NFL talent in the group and he was playing out of position and not an every down player

assuming Weatherd signs then we do have what would appear to be some real threats we could rush the passer with on those downs

Weatherd, CM, Vereen - all could be really good pass rushers

Yeah if I named starters today this would be it. If AJ goes pro I think Bates or Mouhon starts. Jmo

Why did we stop pursuing Lorenzo Featherston?

Talk about potential. We definitely need another big time DL recruit now.

Yeah true. It'll be interesting to watch play out since the coaches have raved about Maggitt's play as scout team DE during the season. Sounds like he wrecked **** pretty consistently. I'll feel good about whoever wins out though.

Same here. If Maggitt got up to 245-250 I'd feel better about him at DE/LEO. Definitely feasible as utsports lists him at 239

Yeah, if the coaches decide they want him there I'm sure Lawson will have no trouble getting him close to 250 by next fall.

I think our DL will be good to very good on passing downs next year. I'm going to have to see them plug up holes in the run game though.

In light of the lambert flip today, i vote we implement a New Recruiting strategy:

Assign Thigpen to every single recruit.

Read in the lambert thread that he didn't make the grades to be an EE - can anyone verify?
